Mv Jahre Viking, renamed Mont has been beached in alang and is already starting to dissapear. :'( This grand old tanker is now in the beginning stages of demolition and there will be more info on her condition soon.
-
:'(
It's like seeing a puppy put down.
-
That image gives a nice impression of how she looks inside.
-
its a shame that she has to be scrapped :-\
thom
-
Why, you wanted to have her? That's how life goes...
-
yes ofcourse, but i just like the ship.
thom
-
Well they couldn't have kept her as a museum or something, there's not many places you can moor a tub like that long term.
-

I would have loved to see the meeting where they tried to get that idea passed.
-
How about turning her into an artificial reef? ;D
-
true they could do that like the oriskany (us aircraft carrier)
-
She will be known in history as the world's largest tanker. And I think she will get a second record. No offense but as the largest tanker scrapped. May she rest in peace.

Cheer up, matt! As far as they're scrapping her, the ocean level goes down. That what's needed in front of the global warming.

WM
not to sound desrespect but the ocean level with Mont??
hmmm.. i gues the ocean level went down about 00.0000000000000009 meters down.
Just saying how it is in real :-[

Not that I think this a good idea but, If all ships were taken out of the water how much would the sea level decrease?
But as for the Knock Nevis = RIP :'(
If you look on Google Earth you can see all the ships and pollution in Alang. It's sad.

Not very much
less then a cm I think - not noticeable

it would more like increase, all the extra weight on land would make the countries sink

Exactly. The sea level would neither decrease nor increase, unless the ships floated off into space...
