OMG its awsome the red jet 4 ;D
Moejoe, you should read the posting rules so that you post in the proper places.
-
Great.
-
:( i was gonna say the fact that it had the number 4 in it made it amazing for me ::)

I prefer the anchor that isnt there..
-
I like the way it deflags itself to avert harbour patrols...
-
Yeah, and also the barrels suddenly light up on fire, amazing. Still got them marsh mellows I gave you?
-
Hey got some of them as well haribo flumps
-
???

You mean the inflatables?

Yeah

Good to know though that the Red funnel ferry company do not charge £2.50 to read the safety information like ryanair do
-
if red funnel do i must owe them alot of money, the mags they have onboard are about a year old and are island magazines that are mainly advertiseing it
-
Why Red Jet 4, when a little further down the coast the Freedom 90, Island Express and Solent Express await you?
-
i havnt been on the hovercraft for a while because it goes to southsea and i normaly go to southampton or portsmouth.

i havnt been on the hovercraft for a while because it goes to southsea and i normaly go to southampton or portsmouth.
But there is a free bus into Portsmouth
-
i know its just a bit simplier to go over on the fastcat if going to portsmouth
-
I'd rather hover.

*Cough* Wight Ryders... *Cough*
-
*Cough* Slow Ryders... *Cough*
i dont get it. they upgrade but these go slower?????
-
What are they like to sail on? I have only been on one once, but it didn't go anywhere

Well they just don't compare to hovercraft. Now follows boring review;
-
slow (i think it is 18knts) and when i was on not that stable. i think it was rough tho
-
There endeth the boring review. I would like to reiterate that a hovercraft is infinitely better.

you think it was rough ? - What was the view out the window?
-
i don't know it was about 10pm
-
and raining
-
Does the slower speed actually make any difference - I remember discussing this and the general consensus was the fact that a lot of the journey is in the speed restricted Portsmouth Harbour, and that it would only increase the journey time by a few minutes?
-
im not sure. but my attention on that journy was fading very fast :D
-
and here will McG coming in saying the hovercraft goes alot faster with no speed restritions
-
the hovercraft goes alot faster with no speed restritions
-
but... the real question is it faster to get from ryde esplanade to portsmouth train station via fastcat/wight ryder/SlowCat or hovercraft and hoverbus (what the free bus is called). and is is cheaper?
-
hovercraft is cheaper it depends where you go from
-
hovercraft is cheaper
Electric ones are better but. None of this pull to start nonsence, just plug it in and push a button. Only thing is the cable restricts how far you can go but. :-\
I'll have a normal one anyday as opposed to throwing a flymo around my garden
-
Hovercraft may be a little more expensive, but you've probably heard the saying; 'It's less bother when you hover'
Case Closed.
-
it is atuly more because you have to get on the bus when you get off the hovercraft. the fastcat docks at portsmouth harbour train station

Ah but you have to get the train to Ryde Pierhead though...
-
I voted stairs. I... just... can't... get.. enough... STAIRS!!!
-

I quite agree with you there :P
That and the speed
and the fact that she is a cat
and a FERRY ;D
-
TFM we dont get the train, no need when you can have a walk along the pier, if it rains we park at the end
-
oh and the stairs are crew access only
-

That is true - I had a nice walk down the pier last year, the Island Express came in as I was walking down
-
nice, it seems i've won this round. Fastcat is the better way to get to portsmouth from ryde. unless the hovercraft and hoverbus is faster.
-
Ah, but have you taken in the quality of the engineering?
-
no just cost and what is easier
-
see that's where the fastcat loses. ;D

;D
That is true...
The Wight Ryders had a pretty rough time settling in...
-
well it was ok when i was on
-
I like the elevator that takes you to the top deck.. (and the bowthrusters ;)
-

SD - are you looking at the same ship... ::)
-
i'd have to say it's great manouverability
-
i'd have to say it's great manouverability
The handling still isnt great compared to the real thing, in real life you can move these things sideways, even though they dont have bow thrusters, I've tried everything, and you just can't get them to move sideways, well I can't anyway
-
Also, unlike in the game where you get 45, on the real Red Jet you can steer max 30 degrees, which makes it harder..
-
like tractorman said the red jets turn on the spot pretty much doing a 180 in a tiny space
-
like tractorman said the red jets turn on the spot pretty much doing a 180 in a tiny space
I can make them turn 180 almost on the spot, if you ahve them both facing inwards and have one of them going forwards and the other back, its pretty good
-
i know but its still not as real life everytime i see them do it in cowes i am disapointed because you can't do it like that it ship sim
