Title: internet problem
Post by: Minime on March 06, 2010, 01:24:58
Hi guys, I've run into some bad internet problems, and I have no clue at all about what to do. The problem started when the reset button on the router was pressed and now internet doesn't work. I've tried turning the router off and on, but nothing helps. Look at the attachement, that's all I get from diagnosing it.

Hi Minime,

This is just a guess: The router stored the IP addresses for one or more DNS servers. These are the databases that convert a URL such as foobar.com into its IP address such as 55.70.109.2.

Resetting the router may have wiped out the DNS addresses. If you have the instruction manual for the router, it may tell you the IP address of the router so that you can access its internal menu and restore the DNS addresses.

Someone else can probably give you more help.

Regards,
Marty

LucAtC just sent me this site for information on various routers. I hope you find it useful:

thanks guys for suggestions, had a guy I know over and he helped me fix it. Though we're going to get a new router soon, since the one we currently have doesn't work and we're using another router. We're probably going with an billion bipac 7800n I think it was, it's quite expensive, but very good.

well, I didn't make those ridiculous prices, I could have bought a nice 23" HD ready computer/TV screen for that.

Why didn't you? Could be fun to play SS on. BTW didn't you have one a while ago? What ever happened to that? Or did you say HDD instead of HD that time.. ???

all internet problems should be over now. Bought a Billion 7800n router earlier today and it is now configured correctly.
