Can you just clarify something for me. Since all this stuff is copyright of Terry Russell of the ISO9000 centre, IS this stuff *officially* sanctioned by Vstep?
If this stuff screws up my system in some way, will Vstep take any responsibility? I am NOT saying it will, but I'd like to know.
Despite what you may have heard/read, I have nothing against the C.F., and my criticism of one member was a PURELY PROFESSIONAl issue and, put quite frankly, since he threw toys out of pram because I asked him, I'd like to know from the horses mouth, so to speak.
HAS this been tested or sanctioned by Vstep. If not, then I shall have nothing to do with it. If it has, then WHY is it copyright T Russell/ ISO centre?
Fred, I am not trying to make trouble for you or Vstep (hard to believe, but true). If you can disarm my fears (and those of others) then I will be very happy for you to delete this post and reply by PM.

Actually, I am not privy to the details regarding who made what and who owns the right to which parts of it all.
That can probably only be answered by Vstep themselves or by Terry as he is the team leader on the CF.., but I think Vstep does not actually test these, but rely on the quality of the work made by the Creator's Forum team, and their experience.
Since it's released on the official forum, it is ofcourse 'okayed' by them, by default, I would say at least.
But as for the legal mumbo-jumbo, I couldn't really say, I'm afraid. Nor about who is to blame if your pc explodes. I think it's a 'use at your own risk' thing here. Sorry that I can't be of any more help.

Fred, you might find this hard to believe, but I'm not trying to cause trouble. My issue here is PROFESSIONAL and it is NOT personal.
I don't want to go into the details of certain PM messages on the public board- I am aware that you have seen some of them already anyway.
With the greatest of respect, I think suggesting PCs exploding is a bit flippant (even by my standards!!!).
"At own risk" is a fairly common system for adding downloads, and that is up to each person to decide. You have, as always, answered the question to the best of your (very high) abilities; why another member decided to resign rather than answer this simple question is a matter that I can only speculate.

I wouldn't exactly call going 'Gee, I don't know, you better ask thém', an ability that takes a lot of skill, but thanks very much for those kinda words. :blush:
And don't worry, I understand where you're coming from and that it's not personal.., and I have been asked questions about similar things before, to be honest. So you're not the only one that has raised an eyebrow. But indeed as I said, it's beyond my 'scope', so to speak. I'm not involved in the creation of these game modifications, and the one that could help you best has decided to leave us, for a number of reasons I am not willing to discuss I am afraid. So I reckon we best leave it at that. :-\
But yeah, I think pc's exploding is a bit 'out there', granted. I'm sure they'll just stop working in a normal fashion, without too much smoke and/or fire. :doh:
Nah just kidding, the only problems seen so far are some bugs here and there that probably have to do with the fact that there's a billion different possible software setups you can have on your pc, and then even many different ways to install SS08, including any to all addons. And I don't think it's humanly possible to test all possible bugs that might appear when combining so many things together, with the relative small team the CF has and the relatively short timespan in between releases. There's just only so much you can do with xx people in xx time. So, inevitable you'll get some incompatibility issues here and there, and such. But for the most part, they are in perfect working order and will nog harm your pc at all.
And if you do run into problems, I am sure the CF offers support in a professional fashion, parallel to what is offered here, on the official forum. And if it's possible for us to offer help here, we shall not refrain from that either. As long as it's not so specific that it requires a CF team member, we'll do our best! :thumbs:
I hope that helps in any way to decide wether or not you wish to use these addons with your game..

Don't underestimate yourself. I am sure that I am not the only one that is glad you manage the forum. I have now seen a small army of admins come and go, and thus far you are the only one to have deft wit but also command respect. So please don't think I am trying to cause you problems.
As said already, it is down to each person to download or not. I am sure that CF will not implode if I do not download and use.
As you know, I am naturally a cynical type of person, but I am usually correct. All I want to know is why person (who we will call XYZ) decided to resign than answer this simple question. What is wrong with that. If he said "download at your own risk, I couldn't care less whether you do or don't" then I'd be happy. But to get all upset about it- why? What's the story?
I suspect that my questions will be answered at some point in the future. But I put down the challenge to the person named XYZ- come on the forum and tell me I am wrong. If I am wrong, then I will place a public apology... :-\
Sorry for going off topic (sort of) I shall leave it there and keep playing the PoR & RE/RJ until SSE comes out.
EDIT: In response to a PM, can I please make clear that (to my knowledge) these 'odd occurrences' apply only to CF download ships and not to the missions etc, some of which are really very, very good.

Unfortunatly I can't answer the specific questions that you are wondering about, for obvious reasons. But it's not specifically to do with these addons, so to speak. That's pretty much all I can say.

As I said, I won't be downloading anything (particularly in vie of darkcapilla post) unless it is officially sanctioned by vstep. My loss? maybe... We shall see... We shall see... (whos nearly always right.) :angel:

I would not recommend lowering the ultimate pack because it will have to reinstall everything again and just talk about that package because there are also other errors that prevents me from doing the original missions of the game. :'(
So where will we get...

The Selsey III Super Pack works fine for me.
I'm sure Terry would not release something if he thought it was going to cause serious problems to people's computer.
I would like to see the car ferry COROMUEL as the next vessel to be released for Super Pack (but I have an inkling it might be too difficult or not practical to do this)

They release only ships which are static/AI. Coromoleul (or whatever the name is) is just a part of the environment like any house, car or tree in SS.

I've had a few PMs today about this subject, following my comments yesterday.
To save me replying to each one personally, can I just suggest sending them to either Vstep or the CF. I decided not to download any more for this very reason.
Damn it. I HATE being proven right all the time.

I've downloaded and installed in this super pack but now Ship Sim '08 doesn't work for me anymore. I keep on getting a blue screen and the computer does not do anything. I'll attempt to reinstall the super pack in again.
