Title: My New PC for xmas :)
Post by: Ozy783 on January 02, 2010, 19:24:21
I gotta a new PC for crimbo, Runs FSX at 50fps on highest settings. I can't wait to try SS08.

It's only just started up because it needed a 650watt power supply and my old one was 450.
Specs:
AMD Athlon x4 630 Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
4096MB RAM
Sapphire Radeon HD 5750 (Approx. Total Memory: 2423MB)

Me thinks this will be a great oportunity to take some great Picture Of The Month shots :D

Yes. If it flickers and stops. It's slow

If it doesn't and you're happy- it's fast!

I just have one question Ozy:
What Computer type is it, you know, like 2000, XP, Vista, or 7?

Probably XP  :L

Did some testing with ATI presets with SS08 at highest possible including 20KM view distance:

Test Ship = P&O Ferry

Ocean
Optimal Quality        - 30FPS
Balanced                - 60FPS - Keeps at 60
Optimal Performance - 60FPS - Keeps at 60

Phi Phi Islands
Optimal Quality        - 27FPS
Balanced                - 47FPS
Optimal Performance - 46FPS

Hamburg
Optimal Quality        - 20FPS
Optimal Quality        - 26FPS - Without Max (Set to high)
Balanced                - 23FPS
Optimal Performance - 25FPS

Note I'm in a dence part of hamburg with loads of containers :)

I'm curious, how do you find your FPS?

I had to use FRAPS

Oh, that sucks. Fraps is the FPS murderer. I wonder if there are programs that will tell you your FPS ingame..?

some games like Crysis & FSX have FPS monitors built in. I don't think SS08 has it.
