Today on Christmas, I opened a present which was heavy, didn't know what it was, and when I opened it and looked at the name. It..... Was........ Windows........... 7!!!!! I got a Windows 7 Home Premium for christmas. This message was made on the soon to be replaced Windows XP Professional.

Why do you need 7 windows?
Must be a big house. Imagine fitting them down the chimney...unbroken!
Good work santa!
;)

I needed the Windows 7 to play SS08, since my Vista is barely able to play it. The Windows 7 Specs:
*AMD Athlon Processor
*2 GB Memory
*320 GB Hard Drive
Won't know the rest of the specs until the XP is removed and the 7 is put in place
-
i hope it goes well matt, you may need some more ram, i guess windows 7 will be similar to vista in that respect.
let us know how you get on.

I heard Windows 7 is a little more friendly, that it doesn't need as much as Vista to run.
I may be wrong, though.

I like win7, but! I cant get SS to run on it.... :'(
got a new comp :D
-
Okay all, to let you all know I installed SS08 on the 7, I will get on a MP server, VTC 2. The installation of Windows 7 from Windows XP will begin after mid day tomorrow (Noon) And After MP, I will see if Titanic is sailable without lagging.
-
did you get a new computer, or just the new operating system?

By what I said in the bolded is what I meant to clear up as:
Remove XP Os and Replace with Win7 OS. I got a new PC for Christmas which was Windows 7. When the 7 is put in place, We have to turn off (Can't remember) this thing that connects to the TVs, PCs, and Gaming Systems (My brother got a Playstation 3 for Christmas)
-
So why exactly are you upgrading a Windows 7 computer, to Windows 7?
-
From Win XP to Windows 7 ::) And I want a Win7 to play MP on my own 7 and not a Vista. The 7 will let me play high poly ships and harbors.
-
i'm still confused, but it sounds like all you're doing is upgrading from XP to 7, am i right?
-
I am so confused now ???

Very Lost :P

You know what I do? I end Windows Explorer to make things go faster!
Just joking of course. Maybe.

yeah, I've read that :(
Well well, extremes is on the way, I hope :D

Three things to remember:
(1) If you upgrade from XP or Vista to Win 7, you must re-install Ship Simulator 2008. Windows 7 stores some information in a different location and their upgrade installer does not move the files around correctly. They go into the correct plkaces when you reinstall.
(2) When you install the game, don't use the auto install of the CD (if that is your original source). Find the setup file and right click on it, then select "Run as Administrator. If you have a downloaded installer, right click on that and select "Run as Administrator". That should make it work correctly.
(3) When you start the game, if you get the "channel missing" message, do not install an updated version of Questviewer. Just exit and delete the following folder:
C:\users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Vstep
(just the Vstep folder)
If you have the 64 bit version of Windows 7 you'll find it here
C:\users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files(x86)\Vstep
Then restart and all should be OK.

I got a Windows XP since last year (2008) and yesterday, I got a big present that was very heavy and the Windows 7 Was there. So Before I get rid of the XP, I must get rid of all my favorited sites, Programs, and background, and all that to sale in the spring. Windows 7 is taking the place of my old Windows XP Professional. Meaning I got a new Operating System.

that still doesn't make alot of sense, how could a simple disc in a case be big and very heavy?
