Title: Pictures in ShipSim

Hey Everyone,

Merry Christmas,

However in the game my graphics are smooth and high quality...but when I take a picture...the picture comes out jagged and low quality, any ideas why?

How did you take that picture? Did you use the ingame picture button, use a program like FRAPS, or use PrtScrn?

You know what Matt I have the exact same problem, but never really thought anything of it, but now its come to light, I would also like to know why this happens!

And Jammydodger, you just push the button on your keyboard "F7" to take a photo!

I think that maybe that when your maybe when your on one vessel the quality is more focused on the Vessel that you are on rather than one thats not being used at the time or maybe the Picture taker wasnt ment to take high quality pictures as your graphics are

That is because of the lossy compression that JPG uses.

If you use FRAPS or something similar, you can save the screenshots as BMP or PNG, where you dont have any 'loss of quality'.

You will find when you replying a + symbol and next to it where it stands Additional Options...
and press on it and there you can upload picture up to 2,3mb

I think BMP or PNG shots are usually pretty large..
Besides, my JPG picture looks ok.. ;)

It could be the graphics card, or maybe Quality is not set high..

Been on that trip (In NY Harbour) many times...just not on a cruise ship  :P

And my card has 1024MB of memory and is set 1 over from full quality, so I don't see why it comes out all "deformed" so to speak

It could be a matter of Quality over Speed..If you have chosen speed, your images, when moving, seem smooth..
When you stop the images to take a picture, the otherwise unnoticed jagged edges become apparent..
I have set my graphics card to Quality, thus sacrificing performance in the Speed range (FPS)

60 fps is more than enough, (I can only dream of such speeds)  ;) You could tune it down a notch without noticing..
Perhaps it would help if you went into your graphic-card settings and tweak things here and there..

I guess from your emoticon you're not thrilled with the results, I think the pics look fine..
(you can see the effects of anti-aliasing on the bow of the Sherpa)
Try taking the same picture with different settings,  get something with lots of diagonal lines..
