Anyone hear this
A couple successfully sued Cunard for £60,000 because the deck plates on QM2 kept them awake at night by making 'banging' noises... Anyone else heard of this?
The Spambot concerned wanted thousands for compensation for the hurt, anxiety, grief, pannick :sleepy: :sleepy: :sleepy: and whetever else her and her greedy barrister wanted to make up claim for.
A cabin over a joint in one of the pre-assembled parts??? ???
-
There was a full report about this in the paper the other day. The pair of them got a £44,000 return of their money and also compensation for various woes such as nervous debility, fear of big ships, etc.etc. etc. If I had that kind of money to spend in the first place, it would definitely not be on a cruise on QM2. (Or any other cruise ship for that matter.) If I could find a nice cargo ship with a couple of passenger cabins it might be worth considering. ::)
Psst, ;) They don't build 'em like they used to. :-X
-
Absolutely Rediculous...
This is just going too far...But then again, it's nothing new for people to make up (Insert quote here) to recieve a lump sum of money...
Jack.
-
I should sue my boss too for that, specially for the vibrations caused by the main engine ;D
-
Were they American?
-
Cunard and QM2 Sued for banging Deck Plates?! I think QM2's age is getting the best of, no offense. Being sued is always leading to bad stuff for one side and good on the other.
-
Were they American?
>:( Thats the sad thing nowadays, everyone is money hungry and they'll sue over the stupidest things

Like horseplaying where it ends up in a ambulance? I saw the saying from a show.

Seriously?
Wow, this is worse than the "Octomom" from earlier this year...
These people need to get a life, I mean seriously? First of all, I'm surprised that only this "couple" heard it, no one else complained which is suspicious, is there any record of someone else hearing it? I'm sure someone would have said something, also, I doubt QM2 is making much noise, she's not even 10 years old yet.

Were they American?
Probably :doh: ::)
-
sure blame the americans, we're always the cause :(
-
I was wondering also why this couple in one cabin heard the bangin but others didn't. I think something was going on with the two instead of a banging noise. I think they were making love and made the bed hit the floor (where I think their cabin was not above a cabin) resulting in a banging echoed through their room from te floor. And if that is true, Cunard would sue them for their money back for falsely claiming a banging Cruser.

I get bashed enough at school for saying Eh and saying about funny so yea It should be alright to blame americans for sueing everything in sight.....I tripped on your porch LAWSUIT
Take no offence americans...purely having fun

Are you serious?
Anyway, If they were so upset about these noises, couldn't they of just asked for another cabin?

Have I misinterpreted that? If I have I apologise in advance, but how can her age be getting the "best of"? She's only five years old ???
It's mad what people do for money. If the Spambot had a fear of big ships, why did she go on such a large ship then? ::)
-
Hi Nathan,
They DID ask for, and get, another suite (No cabins for them ) but they were not satisfied with that one either. :o
Angus.

Sounds like a pair of snobs if you ask me. This is absolutely pathetic, the things people do for money!!
I'd have told them to walk the plank :D

No, they were British. Sorry to our US friends, but Britain DID get the idea of sue xyz for abc...
Oh they are a couple of unusual people all right. Far be it for to stand up for a foreign shipping company, but (if you believe the newspaper reports...) 'distress, anguish blah)- Carnival moved them to a 'stateroom' with a sodding butler- what more can they do
CAPTAIN: Number one, can you possibly take a hammock to the bilges so these stupid people can have your cabin?
No ONE: Why of COURSE, Sir. Nothing gives me pleasure than pandering to a couple of over-rich tossers. By the way, Sir. Here is my resignation. I am going to work on a freighter where pallets of stock don't think the whole world is here for their enjoyment.
EDITED: Apparently a comparison to pancake makers is deemed unsuitable for the forum

I have to say, if they were moved I do not see why they deserved Compensation. Especially as a Stateroom with Butler is REALLY Expensive

Modified accordingly, Mr T.F.M... The Ferry Moderator ;)
Apparently, Cunard were unable to tell them how long they would be in the upgraded room before the official occupants were to board (?)
Then they were to be moved to other UPGRADED accommodation. Mrs Chinless-wonder was 'too upset to unpack'... My answer: Let the Butler do it then you daft creature. ::)

( ;D)
You know I have to say, if I were lucky enough to be on the QM2, and get a FREE upgrade, I would be grateful, not, hmm we had a small problem, lets sue...

Next time I go on the DCITSE ferry (Tuesday night???) I'm going to complain to the pursor that the vibration of the engine/ the sight of water/ the prices in the bar/ the sound of the exhaust/ whatever else I can think of*
is giving my nightmares and that I demand compensation and an upgrade to 'le priorite disembarkation' and club class etc.
*delete as appropriate

Just use the lot...
See if they give you that, or tell you to start swimming...

It's a sad fact though that most companies will roll over like a dog if you threaten them- with a CONVINCING arguement.
It is cheaper to pay compensation than instruct lawyers...
