Title: The holidays
Post by: Master Captain on December 02, 2009, 02:51:04
This always comes to my mind this time of year. There are obviously tens of thousands of users on this forum, when everyone is constantly running around saying merry christmas and such there may be people who dont celebrate christmas and may not like to see it all over the place, some people celebrate hanukkah and not christmas or vice versa or even both. So my suggestion is to keep the happyness around the holidays is to simply say happy holidays, that covers it all without offending anyone or anything like that.

Don't we already have like 4 other topics going on about the same thing?

And seriously, no one should be offended if I say Merry Christmas, that is the holiday I celebrate. I don't mean anything bad to people that don't.

It is like every time someone says "pray to god" should I be offended because I don't believe in religion/god/brain washing.

not that i've seen but i could be wrong... Some people might be offended or they just dont want to hear it , not saying you have to be offended i'm just pointing something out.

Sinc this PPT is already on the forum, can I add something. And I hope that everyone around the world will agree with this.

Since I (a 100% aethies) do not get offended by Christmas, Diwali, Ramadan etc etc etc etc... Then why should a Moslem or Hindu get offended by Christmas any more than a Christian (or aethiest) should be offended by Diwali or Ramadan?

Perhaps, and I don't mean to have a go here, but people should stop apologising for their own beliefs and traditions which is a weak willed thing to do and to stop patronising others in the mistaken belief that every moslem is going to be upset because of the word Christ in xmas.

It's a good point... I wonder how many actual active members are on the forum... more than 20 I think, but less than 20,000!

I think there is probably around 400 serious posting users on this forum. The rest may browse and never even post, some just register for a little self help and information.

The user count might be high, but the active user count will never hit that!
