Hai!
Do you think it's possible to make the Low detail AI ships that populate the harbour driveable? You know like in Flight Simulator and MSTS.
-
Possible yes!
However why should we want that.
We all love very detailed ships, the AI vessels are just the basic what you can have to see it's a ship.
No,we better make more detailed vessels and leave the AI ships for what they are.

I agree that we ALL love High Detail ships. But, Having the low detail AI ships would make SS more playable for people with lower spec PCs. (So I would assume)
Plus some of the AI (Well Most In Fact) are not the High Detail ships that we can play so it would widen the range of fun, It'd be low detail but we could do more in SS. It would be nice the see some of the ferries, Inland conatiner ships, Mini fishing boats.
I'd like to try to make at least one AI ships driveable but,
1. I don't know how,
2. It think It'd be in breach of the license agreement.

Oli

I think only Coromoleul (or whatever her name is) & Sealight - are the only 2 ships deserve to happen to be a player ships someday. But that's up to VSTEP & SSE.

I agree of course

You assume wrong. Making the AI ships drive-able would make them higher in “detail†to the point that they would place as high a burden on the system as other drive-able ships. Aside from very high-poly ships like Titanic, the processor burden of player ships is principally in the dynamics.
I should point out that most AI ships are of high detail.
AI ships are one of the most common reasons for low frame rates in missions. Too much AI can drop the frame rate below 1 FPS

English pronunciation: “Cromwellâ€; named for a wind that was named after Oliver Cromwell.

is it one of these?
*Ignore the random wakes, I used the thrusters to avoid a little inland cargo ship. But I lost control and hit a vermass xD*

Yes, that's the one.
I mentioned also this one: http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,54.0.html
