Title: Timings for Custom Missions
Post by: pusser_uk on November 04, 2009, 19:04:55
I started a custom mission recently and noticed that one user had achieved a time of 39 seconds. This I assume is the time taken for the mission since it was the only time shown on the custom mission screen, along with their user name. Due to the time it actually took me at full speed using the Red Jet, almost 45 minutes, how can anyone show a time of 39 seconds?

Because many of those highscores are done by hacking...
Those are mostly done by children in range of 13 - 16 years old & adults who have no life, etc.
You may find even results as  -04:25, which sounds like player "finished mission before starting it".
Early I gave up with highscores as well as with rankings because they're pointless & just a waste of time & nerves.

That explains that then, thanks WM I was beginning to think I was slow.  :D
Of course, at my age, I probably am slow!!  ::)

The fastest time you can make in a mission depends upon the frame rate that your system can achieve. The frame rate, in turn, depends upon the view (external, bridge, etc.) and sometimes on the zoom level.

One more reason why WM’s attitude is sensible.

Another example is speedboat races over ramps: In most such races, the creator has left the circle at the default radius of 30 meters. It is not necessary to go over the ramp. You can go past it in either direction of you just kiss the edge of the circle.
