here are a few pics of the bugsier 2 escorting the agile solution into rotterdam

Nice idea to pick up the towing rope by means of the forward winch! Quite unusual here in Hamburg, but often seen in other ports around the world.

Looks so... Real.
-
a few more i took while in the atlantic :2thumbs:
-
Looks like your having fun. :p
-
yea im a tug kinda guy

Me too! I've driven "B2" in Hamburg myself for trial means.. :2thumbs:

Real life, or in the game?

Real life!!! Long before the ship was released here - to improve the dynamics.

Awesome. How realistic is the simulation then?
-
It is really close to the original, except the effect of the skeg. Speed is correct: backwards a little bit faster than ahead; steering is realistic: you need both thrusters for a significant course change, not just one; the heeling is correct: it's really amazing, how much the original ship heels over when turning around with full thrust! There are two ways to step sideways, one with more thrust than the other. Both is working in game too.
I just miss the tremendous effect of the skeg. If the tug is working backwards at the stern of the towed ship, the risk of getting the slipped towing rope under the keel and into the props is high. Therefor the tugs master turns fast to one side and the skeg helps turning and stopping the ship almost at once.
Cheers

Must have been very interesting, did you also get to steer it? But what is the "skeg"?
-
the skeg is a sort of "fin" on the stern of the tug and when you are getting a ship to stop and you are towing from the aft of your boat when you turn sideways the skeg acts as brakes
-
ah thank you very mcuh, now I know one thing , what an educational day ;D

Of course! We have done a few trials all around the famous Köhlbrand-Bridge in Hamburg, the bulk terminal HANSA-Port and the latest container terminal in Altenwerder. That's why VSTEP enlarged the Hamburg Port environment in that direction a few miles. It was great to work with that powerful ship. I steered a pod driven passenger ship (see below) before several times, but it was completely different to the "B2".

i cant seem to get five knots and be in control of the b2 can u say what rpm to use
-
Hmmm - what exactly do you mean? ???

well if you put the bug 2 all ahead full try using just one z drive to steer it it wont turn so sharply

the skeg is the fin u see under the stern
