It's the classical teachers disease, sorry about that!
Back to topic. In my opinion there is no need for an aircraft carrier. Well maybe as static object in NY. For one aircraft carrier we would need a whole fleet of other navy ships for escorting means.

Sorry, too big & asymmetrical for my taste.

And too useless if there won't be any aircrafts as player objects. Or if there will be - then it won't be SS.

too slow for my liking.

The Nimitz class is far faster than all the large hulls currently in ship sim. They have an easy excess of 38knots and due to their rudder configuration turn quite well at those speeds.

She was merely an example. Was there another carrier currently in mind for this? I received the impression it was an open question.

If this is a poll for an aircraft carrier for SS08 or SSE, why is it in Active Projects? Shouldn't it be in Feature Request and Suggestions ???

Because of:

1. Ignoring those (http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,11578.0.html).
2. The topic was quickly forgotten to be moved to a proper board.

Here is my suggestion anyway:
USS Enterprise (CVN65):
Enterprise is a WWII Veteran Aircraft Carrier of the U.S. Army. She took some scars of protecting Guadocanal. From Battle 360:
Enterprise suffered a bomb to the stern disabling her rudder, and one brave man was able to go through the burning room to reactivate the rudder.
I think it wold make a great addition to the Ship Simulator Fleet. :2thumbs:

As this topic is still not moved to the "Feature Request and Suggestions" board, here's my response to matt5674:

Admiral Kuznetsov (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_aircraft_carrier_Admiral_Kuznetsov)

How about the U.S.S. New York?

Actually I have a shirt for the U.S.S. Austin LPD-4

Edit: Sorry I forgot this is for aircraft carriers, not just random US Navy Ships.

Battle 360 showed her in WWII but she was laid down in '58 ??? Wikipedia Said of her World War II fame, she is nicknamed the "Big E." How can Enterprise be a '58 ship when a show said WWII ??? I am so lost into Enterprise

Because they are two different ships of course!
The one fighting during WWII and entering in service in 1938 (CV6) and the one with the keel laid in 1958 (CVN65, on the above photo, still in service).

And my latest vessel history came to the WWI Australian Submarine AE2, which was the first to get past Turkish defences. One Year before the Britannic's sinking!

This project was brought up many times within the Features requests, the reason it remains here, however, is that it is deemed by VStep that they do not intend at this moment in time to add such a vessel to SS, based on what I am told. To that end the project is left here as it is seen to be very possible that people within the NVDG could collaborate to make this project a reality while VStep remains focused on improving the core of SS itself.  I think the topic is fine here. With enough collaboration and pairing of the right people I am confident that this could happen and that this topic remains in the right area of the forums.

Unless someone jumps on to actually start modeling a carrier and get into the process of making it a real project, it will be moved to NVDG general however as a proposed project. Questions or concerns? Do not hesitate to contact me.
