New York City is very big, as big as the future ship, Freedom Ship. I would have enjoyed NY if My family has a free month ;D Even better to see the new World Trade Center which is due in a couple of years.

Hello Capt. Matt,
Very nice pictures, many thanks.
You labeled the 7th picture as that of a French Navy vessel? It looks more like an Arleigh Burke class destroyer, her hull number DDG-64 being that of USS Carney. A nice ship anyway
Regards,
Luc

I wasnt too sure to be honest, I saw that her flag was red white and blue (Not sure in what order of if it was vertically or horizontally)  My dad mentioned something about them being dutch, but I think you would know more than we would

Why she would have carried a Tango flag (Red white blue, not blue white red) is a mystery to me. Under Quebec (yellow), it would have meant something like stay at a distance of my anchoring. But the identity cannot be mistaken, thanks to the obvious funnels ... 4 gas turbines. Also, the silhouette is well known, alas, due to the many pictures of USS Cole.  :(
Regards,
Luc

Hmm As I said you would know better than I would All I know is at her stern I saw a red white and blue flag I think lets see if I can find a picture ;)

Opps, Sorry luke that was on another navy vessel I saw

Behind the hill you can see a ship passing and at the ships stern is the flag, I mixed up the ships :P

The frigate in the background is indeed Dutch, one of the Multipurpose frigates of the Karel Doorman's class, that can be seen in a ShipSim Pro advertising.
Thanks for the pictures,

Haha Yea Jack it really is insane standing in the city next to the huge buildings and looking straight up, those things go forever ::) I think it is a shame though that their building the Freedom Tower or WTC 1, I think that is is going to wreck the skyline because as you can see most of the builings are older, 1960s-70s and now their going to stick this shiny blue glass building with a huge spear right smack in the middle of it, doesnt fit in, wrecks the view, thats my opinion of it :-\

I've never been anywhere like NY. I bet for people not used to it the crowded streets are a bit claustrophobic..?

I mean you have the roads and all the tall buildings either side... and only a small patch of sky...

I like my sky to be big

Post by: Capt. Matt on September 17, 2009, 21:11:52
We have sky, lots of it, when you were standing where I was taking these pics, but if your in the city you still have lots of sky, its just obstructed with buildings that seem to go up forever

*Cough* And Smog!

Like TFM, I've never been anywhere like that...Busiest place I've ever been to is probably Dublin, but even then, everybody still seems to know eachother! (I was born in Dublin, but Lived in Wexford - It's a long story)

The busiest city ive ever been to has been, well Ive been lots of places, Halifax, Newark, NYC of course, Ottawa, Seracuse (not that big) then ive seen very barren places, like the island

Anyways The city is alright for a visit but im more of a suburbial person (Not the city not the country, right nicely in the middle) ;)
