Hi I've just started working on a model kit of the tugboat Yorkshireman/Irishman(still haven't decided on a name).
Also I'm gonna make 1 or 2 models of an old Norwegian ship which sank a long time ago in the Faroe Islands.
After being on discovery on both my grandparents loft I saw that both my grandfathers had a model of Norske Løve(means Norwegian lion). So maybe I'll get 1 model out of 2 or maybe even 2 out of 2, and maybe I could try to make one of them rc, so that I could control the rudder and maybe some sails. I'll get some pictures soon of the Norske Løve and Yorkshireman/Irishman.
-
The Norske Løve is a nice old lady good luck with the building
here you have some photo of here

The yorkshireman is a nice tug!
Model slipway kit?
I am interested in the Dutch courage, or the drumbeat of devon.
But first I have to finnish my amsterdam from artesania latina. ;D
-
I found this ;D

Hi minime - here's some pics for you of the real Yorkshireman/Irishman
The Yorkshireman shot was her returning to Hull from the Falklands war.
-
Great work, Minime!

Great work, Minime!
He didn't do anything yet :p
That is a plastic hull wich is included in the kit :P
Minime, is this your first rc kit?
One tip, buy good shafts, couplings and motors.
Biceaus they are the most important parts of the ship and the shaft is allmost impossible to replace.
I have the original shaft of the kit in my Amsterdam and the result is that it is leaking greace on both sides, and I can't replace it.
And maybe allso so some brass propellors biceaus I thought the moulded ones from Model slipway aren't balanced.
Good luck!
Be patient!
And don't expect it to be ready within one year if you want to do it right.
-
He cut the holes in the side. -.-
-
thanks for the advices Sam, I'll see what I'll do with the props and shafts soon.
-
Are you keeping a building log on a rc forum or here?
Biceaus I am allways interested in following one. ;)
I recommend registring at a rc forum, and keep a building log.
Biceaus there, verry expirienced people help you and spot problems on time.
I do it for my Amsterdam and it allready helped me a lot.
-
yup I am at http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php.
This site has proofed very helpful so far.
-
How big is she?
-
34 inch I think.
-
Nice work!
I'll see if I can get hold of the other members here at the lake....I remember seeing a few Yorkshire/Irishman tugs around the place. Also, there's a show on soon, if I see the Yorkshireman/Irishman (There's always a few!) I'll take pics for you, might help with your model :)
Good luck!
Jack.

thanks, now I'm trying to find out if I should fit an bow thruster or not, I'm probably gonna buy one, just need to fin out what kind of bow thrusters.
-
It depends really....From my experience, with Hibernia having bow Thrusters, they are good fun - But, you'll never really need them, and plus, it will mean you'll have to splash out that extra cash on a 4 channel radio, rather than your simple 2 channel.
Jack.
-
I was thinking about gettng an 4 channel anyway :) With an 4 channel, since in the manual it said you needed 4 channels to be able to control both engines with different speeds.
-
Ahhh....So you mean to operate each engine individually?
Jack.
-
yeah, that's what I meant.
-
Yeah, that's a good thing. But it can be hard to learn at first! (Yorkshireman has kort nozzles...doesn't it?)
Jack.
-
yes it has kort nozzles
-
I just bought the futaba F14 transmitter for €140, it has 4 channels and is easely expandable to 8 channels.
I am allready using 4 channels for my amsterdam wich has only one engine. :P
And I will probably need a fith channel.
I think a bowthruster is a nice adition.
If the original has one, I would allso fit one.
But if it doesn't, i don't think I would fit one.
-
I think I'm gonna try to find a rc hooby shop tomorrow, hopefully they have some goodies there.
-
Don't forget to shop round a bit, some shops charge really really high prices. Also, I wouldn't be soon keen in buying any graupner hand sets...Some of the local lads don't like them. Just from my experience and others.
Jack.
-
there is only 2 rc shops on the whole country, and one of them is quite near.
-
Really?! That's a surpise! I guess you only have two options then!
Or, you could look on the net a bit as well, might find something cheaper. Good luck, either way! :)
Jack.

hehe, I might just order something in Denmark and then someone can bring it over to me, have family over there, so that shouldn't be a problem.
