Just recently I have noticed that my vermaas keeps on drifting to the left, I tried reseting the rudder and thrusters but to no avail.
Does anyone know of other solutions I could try?
Thanks

Hi there,
Welcome to the forum.
As soon as you enter the game with the Vermaas, and put her straight ahead, does this happen?
Or, do you mean that, when you put the rudder amidships, after turning her, she still keeps turning?
Jack.
-
It will happen as soon as I enter the game and bring the engine up to speed on a straight heading.
-
Hmmm...This is very odd indeed.
Can I ask, Have you got all the patches installed? What version number do you have? (Bottom left on the main Menu).
Also, Has this always been a problem? or has it started recently?
Jack.
-
It has only recently started to happen, I have version 1.4.2 and installed the patches that were needed.
I really want to try and avoid reinstalling the game if possible.

Does any one know if Prop Walk has been utilized in the game, I have tried to use it on some of the smaller ships when docking but have never tried on the larger ships. This could explain this behavior if used incorrectly. :-\

Prop walk is built into the simulator, and can be seen in the behavior of many of the ships.
So it's normal. Nothing wrong with your game. ;)
Vermass, Latitude, Agile Solution, etc are slowly turning to the left during some period after setting throttle to "ahead" & rudder at 0.
-
Yes, here's an article on prop walk..

Odd. I've never had that before, for the amount of time's I've used both Latitude/Vermaas.

Strange that you haven't seen that, Jack. Even on AS after setting to "full ahead" the ship begins to turn left, the max. ROT is about -9°/min.

I'll have to check that out, If I'm honest, it's news to me!
You learn something new every day ;D

And I'm sorry for not spotting the diagnosis earlier! At least, in the future, If someone asks the same question, I know what the "problem" is
Hope to see you around!
And, no problem, we all need help a times, so it's nice to try and give it back.
Jack.

No need to apologize, atleast I didnt need to ring a premium rate number only to be put on hold for an hour before being passed around the world to find a simple 2 minute solution ;D
Ive been in the shadows of this forum for a while now and I must say what a cracking atmos so I will be back for sure.

How do you control the prop walk?
Been trying to correct it but to no avail.
-
The only thing to do, just as on a real ship, is adjust your helm slightly to starb'd to counteract the effect. you will find the right spot by trial and error. ::)

I was very interested to read about prop walk. I can understand it happening to a real ship, in real water and with other real factors. But on a computerised simulation? I am surprised and very impressed, if all the subtle, and also not so subtle effects of this phenomenon have been deliberately built into ShipSim 2008.
I have a problem with Jumbo Javelin, which I do not think is due to prop walk. I have run nine of the ten simulations successfully, but in "Transport of a Vacuum Tower - Marseille" I cannot get the Jumbo to respond to the controls at all - it just seems to move in any direction, and I cannot get it out of the dock even to the first waypoint. Why should this be? If it were a fault in my PC I would have the same problem with all the Jumbo simulations, but I do not. I have build 1038 version 1.4.2

Hello struggler
Wecome to our forum, hope you'll enjoy the ride.
Since you are a member that long, you should NOT be suppriced. You should know about ShipSim quality ! ;D

Not only the Vermaas is showing these signs of realisem; but many other things akt real aswell.

But sometimes there are problems and this is one of them; here is the new version of that mission.

Ive landed up re-installing ship sim but still have the same problem, but now everytime I hit reverse in the ocean star it speeds up before slowing and steers violently to the left.
-
It is the azimuth pods, when you want to reverse, the pods turn around to slow the ship down, but the ship will turn either to port or starboard.
-
On the Ocean Star you don't have to turn the azipods to reverse..
She also has reverse throttle, unlike Bugsier2..

Prop walk... ;)
-
I should have been more specific with the ocean star, I cant get reverse throttle.
Ive not made any changes to the control settings it just all of a sudden started happening.
-
Azipods... ;)

I have this same problem to. Not only the Vermaas but even the Latitude. ???

The Freedom 90 also goes into slides all by herself, but that's true to real life, they are very keen to point into the wind!
-
I've had problems with the Vermaas,PoR,Latitude, and Agiles Olution, it is the same thin htat keeps happening, it drifts to the left.
-
prop walk. that's supposed to happen. solved on the previous page ;)
