Whilst looking through old files to put (or not put) on my laptop, I came across an old project intended for ship simulator called the M/S Gilgamesh. I took one look at the hull I made and nearly threw up! (It was one of the first designs I ever did all by myself). I decided I would fix the hull, and rid it of it's errors. Here are the surprising results. The errors included mainly vertice and smoothing errors, but after hard work, it looks good!

Incomplete projects are never to be forgotten but when new stuff happen elsewhere, you forget this type of stuff. She looks good FireStar.

Wow cool shane, diamant just curious, how do you remember all of these old topics :-\ ;)
-
what? ???
-
Ohh I get it now and yes lets stay on topic if I may ask is this a real vessel?
-
right didnt see that
-
you certainly cleaned that up fierestar-brilliant work! :2thumbs: (it didnt look too bad to begin with in my view-but im definatly no expert!) ;D

Thanks for the comments everyone! I thought this would be a fine tug or fishing vessel (Or, as intended, an Arctic Cruiser). More pics, all unrendered shots.
EDIT: Yes RMS GB, it was not bad in the beginning, it is just that many of its vertices were unorganized, and as a result, could not withstand the subsurfing process.

I think she looks like an excellent crabber.

cool

Do any of you know who Gilgamesh the King was? :police:

No, Fred just gave me the name. ;D

Think of his epic and the name Enkidu.
It is an ancient poem/story from nearly 5,000 years ago. It contains an older version of the tale of flood almost identical to the Biblical one (or perhaps the same event through different eyes).
It is probably the oldest written story in existence.
It is written in cuniform on clay tablets. It is well worth learning the language to read them. It takes just 11 tablets. (there were 12 but the writer seemed to have destroyed one. Perhaps he had too many spelling mistakes).
Or if you are too lazy, go to this link: http://gilgamesh.psnc.pl/

terrys smart

PS The flood story is told by Utnapishtim to Gilgamesh on tablet 11.

Personally I believe that the entire story is a retelling of the start of the human race and the coming of the space gods onto earth.
If you read parts of the story such as the tunnel the was in the earth's crust the was perfectly vertical, that had cheriots of light leave every day trailing fire that traveled to the heavens...
Make your own decision about what that really is...

That is what the alien gods mined from Earth that Gilgamesh stole from the woods that angered the gods enough to kill all humans with a great flood.

For all you know, the space gods were llamas and they just left me behind. ;D
-
I have a few Llama Farms near me and they also make good cheese, and company! ;D

Another topic wrecked to our off topic minds
Wait I have an idea a topic for any random stuff you want to talk about
-
has already been made, just don't remember where

Right there - http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,596.0.html
Shall we ask Terry if we can "officially" raise that topic in favour to stop marmiting the other topics?
Weird, I was looking at that topic earlier today! ;D
