A quick question concerning the engine controls in Ship Sim 2008 - I can use the mouse to move individual engine controls, (on a twin engined vessel), but if I use the arrow keys, or set up other keyboard keys as these controls, the throttles go to 100% when the key is pressed then return to zero throttle when released. Is there a way to increment the throttles and have them maintain the setting?
Thanks!

Go into settings, look under controls, and then choose precision steering.

Thanks! Will give that a try. Note you're a Trains fan...I have both MSTS, (including two Streamlines routes), and several iterations of Trainz. All good sims.
Thanks again for the assistance.

As an alternative to enabling "precision steering"—which has some disadvantage when it comes to rapidly returning rudder amidships or throttles to zero—you can just hold the right Shift key down to increment either the rudder or throttles.
Just be sure to release the Shift key last.

the bad thing about precicion steering is it works ok on larger ships but on the smaller boats like the speed boat its very hard to control

I knew about both, and just tried each way in free roam really quickly. I found that for almost all the ships, MVSmith's way works better. You have the incremental speed, but also a controllable burst of full power if necessary, especially with Latitude :2thumbs:

easiest thing i think is use the arrows to get it at full throttle then hold right shift and let go of the arrow, also while holding the right shift you can move the throttle with the arrows more percisely ;)

wow i agree that works the best thanks alot
