We have a ferry called the Spirit of Ethan Allen over here where I live. Here are some pictures. I just knew I had to show her off. Let me know what you think of her.

Great little Ferry :)
Do you have a stern shot? Does she take cars, or just foot passengers?
-
Just foot passengers. I will find a stern shot for you. There are not any good ones but when I go on her I will take PLENTY interior and exterior shots. Maybe this could be a next project after Volgo Balt and SSUS. But this will be good because, I will meet with them in person to discuss any copyright issues. Our city is right on the 6th largest lake in the US. Here is where I live.

EDIT: TFM, you can probably find some good shots of the stern on the ship's website:

Thanks, I would love to model her after all my other projects. I like her size, not too big, not too small.
Edit: Typo.
-
Can you get the blue print of her she is not so difficult to modeling i think
Tore

I might be able too meet with the owners in real life! But yeah, this ship would not be so hard to model. I probably could give her full interior too! I think this ship would be my bets detail, I feel like I have not been able to show my full abilities to you guys yet. :P

Haha...yeah...It is too bad she only goes on the lake. She would do great on the open sea. One time when I was little when I was on her, there were 15 foot waves in a storm, but the ship preformed beautifully. ;D She probably will only be around for 6-8 years though before they get a Spirit of Ethan Allen 4. :-\

yes pity, she cud start here in Kristiansand Norway lol
-
Maybe, I would love to see her do transatlantic cruises. I know she is not built for it but it would be very interesting to see.
-
But anyway I'm sold see the lovely picks over the lake and 2010 wee are their
-
Yeah, people come from all over the world to see the lake. She is only that beautiful in the summer time though. In the winter, she is good for walking on. She can be good for swimming though too. She has tons of shipwrecks too, dating to before the revolutionary war. They still find more and more of them, even today!

so i need diving equipment to LOL and rent a ship for a week or two
-
If you really wanted to, you can rent out the entire ship for a day. Imagine that. Just you and your wife on the entire ship. And the crew too of coarse. It costs a lot though.

It would be nice if VSTEP would model Lake Champlain. We could duke it out with the Brits again—speedboats vs hovercrafts in MP.

A long time ago, when I lived in New Jersey, we would drive up there about once a year. I have relatives around Hudson, NY—on visits to them, we would often drive further north to the Adirondacks, Vermont, Quebec, etc.
Beautiful country!

Haha...I live in Vermont! Isn't Lake Champlain just beautiful? I go there about once a week.
-
Damn, I wish. I used to. I live a little further away now. But not too far away. When I am older, I am going to move back to B-town as its called by the gangstas.
-
So Diamant, what do you think of the ship?
-
Yeah...I love how I could probably give her full interior without having 99999999999999 polys. Would you like to see her in ShipSim after Volgo Balt is done? (I always have two projects going at once)
-
Oh my god guys, guess what! I am going on that ship tomorrow! I will be sure to take plenty of pics. (Well, I think I am going on it tomorrow, my parents kinda hinted towards it) I will also try to meet the captain and find out about any copyright issues.
-
Ok, if I can get access to her engine room. But yeah, I will take tons of shots. also, her hull should not be too hard to model, it looks pretty simple.
-
I'm happy to hear that you can get to the ship, but you got to buy that bike to me now, since you get to enter the ship.
-
No, I took control of your computer for a reason Minime. Remember that? That was so you would never get the bike. ;D ::)
-
I knew it, get on MSN so I can get revenge and to stay a bit on topic, good luck
-
Or so I can send you that image again?! ;D ::)(joking...)
EDIT: I went on the ship today, it was VERY fun and I got to meet the captain and go up in the wheelhouse! Let me tell you, I think you guys would love her wheelhouse. It kinda reminds me of a mix of Hercules Atlas and PoR's bridge. I will be posting tons of pictures later. It was VERY windy later in the cruise. In fact, the tables on the deck were blowing across the room. The security officer had to come out on the bow and get rid of all the tables and chairs because it was a risk. I did get a somewhat good picture of the fire escape route. Which included every deck. Yet another edit: I got some good stern shots. I have 71 pictures. Here are the first of many.
-
More pictures...
-
Even more ;D
:X At that last pic.
I will post some more later tonight.
-
nice pics, when can we see the bridge shots? Did you get access to the engine room?
-
No, I did not unfortunately. I did notice though, she leaves a very nice wake. Two proper.
-
More...
-
Even more
-
Yet again...
-
Some pictures of her wake.
-
Some nice shots. She looks a lovely vessel
-
Because I very much like the Dutch!
-
Because I very much like the Dutch!
Are you sure you replied in the right topic? I don't see any connection ???
-
Yes, Siso7 had asked me why. He must have removed the post.
-
I've got direct contact information of the owner of this vessel, I'll call him later tonight and discuss things with him.
-
EDIT:
I've contacted the owner over the telephone, and he does appear to be interested. He says he is able to redirect me to those who have blueprints, and he is also able to provide me with the sea trials report. It does appear he will give me permission, but I don't want to promise anything at the moment. I'm really excited!!
;D

nice to see, should be an interesting project to follow, good luck with it
