I decided to make a little break to show the size comparison of a person to the largest ship. in the circle, it is Bryce, the person for comparison. GSJ is behind him:
GSJ is SSSSUUUUUPPPPPEEEERRRRR large. It is the size of the Freedom Ship plus RMS Titanic 2, 6 times. please comment on the size. It is a start so say what is good about it.
-
Uhmm.... ???
-
Not much!!
-
Its a little small?
Jack.
-
It won't be very practical will it?
I did some sums the freedom ship is 1400m and I got the length of Titanic, don't know Titanic 2's length but thought it was similair. Then I put 6 Titanic's and added up to get:
3014m
That's going to be interesting manouvering in ports isn't it? Especially favourite cruise ones.
So really I'm saying it's a lil too big. ;)
-
Looks like one of those stupid diagrams of the inside of an active volcano ::)
Is this project stupid? I can't say as I will pass gudgement now but you are going to have to prove that it is worth while first.
-
HUH, do we need this?
There are a lot of great modelers out there, the likes of Firestar who take time and trouble over their modelling and then we get this rubbish!!
-
I am about to do another comparison between OSE/BSE. This is the comparison:
You can see I placed a text arrow to the Orange Star Expidition. And GSJ is way tooo big to enter ports, so she can only be barded by helicopter, plane, or boat. She is also too big for OSL headquarter to be built so she was moved to the shallowst art of the atlantic to sit on.
-
Well, ermm.....Don't you think that that size is a little big? I don't think you could find a dock big enough anywhere in the world for her. Just my thoughts.
-
She is too big to even enter ports, you know, really shallow water. The white part of the ship is to be edited for it to be a floating metropolis, right now, she is just a hull. Ask what you want to see on the GSJ. You know, from a onboard theme park, to a outdoor onboard baseball field. and don't worry, OSL already has that planned, and she is like the future Freedom Ship.
-
Can you not see the difference between our 100,000 polygon ships and this 7 polygon brick!?!
-
I had actually got most of the skin from the scrapped OSL ships, like Ol' Reliable, the Pushboat, Montevideo Desire, and the old pieces of metal from Titanic 2 after her maiden voyage storm. The rest is one whole piece of metal in that shape. And part of her is going to made of concrete, for sidewalk decks, which will be alot of OSL made cement. And OSL is also where they bearly destroy the enviorment, we actually make the materials with the OSL factory. So we are actually being careful what we use in it's construction. We also use metal from sips that were scrapped, like RMS Olympic, Mauretania, Aquitania, ETC. Head OSL headquarters is located in Louisville, KY, but where we make most of are ships is in Hawaii. for the mixture for the ships I make, we use the lava from the continuous flowing lave full volcano for the base of the mix. We actually do mostly have setbacks. but the construction does continue after every storm, and after the wet portions of the ship dries for the rest of the build, but right now, this sketchup, where it is not real yet. So it takes unlimited tons of components, so it is safe for our enviorment. Didn't noticed that?

Daft as a brush!!

-
Got it! The prototype of the Grand Spirit of Jupiter was Noah's Ark...
Sorry wrong there, Noah's Ark docked to let tthe animals board!!

-
Only air-cushion that the Ark had was the methane from the animals..
:sleepy: :sleepy:
-
ugh, not another tiny pleasure cruiser
no no seriously, you've gotta hell of a lot of work to do ;) so good luck :)
-
Look what I found out about the Freedom ship and GSJ:
I did make it much larger. like about 100 Freedom Ships bigger.
-
Do you think I should make her Bigger?               Don't forget to ask what stuff you want to see on her.
-
I'm sorry to criticise you Matt, I'm not normally like this but I just think this is turning into a joke. ;)
-
It is a joke. But I should get back to work on her. Can't leave projects unfinished.
-
If it is a joke, then it should have been posted in Small Talk, not here. ???
I'll move it there in a few minutes.

Is that a joke? It is in Small Talk already!

No joke. I just moved it from the "Non-SS2008 Vessel Design" area, where it was orginally posted.
-
No. not funny enough.
I certainly was not laughing...
-
Maybe there should be a 'Sad Talk' category? Or Daft?
-
Yep, I'm a great icebreaker...
-
I thought that post was in your mind when you said that, just now. I remembered it.
-
Why do you guys have to critisize so much? If he wants to make a big 10, 000 Freedom Ship legnth x width ship, let him, there is nothing wrong with that. Besides, its only a fictional ship made in Sketchup, give him some Lee-way for crying out loud.... :P ::)
-
Thanks for the support Jonah.
-
Err...
Jonah: He eventually said it was a joke, not a real project.
At that point, I am definitely going to criticise for posting it in a section intended for the serious work of others. I think that demeans the incredible hard work that serious posters put into their work in that area. I can understand why others were not amused with that "joke".
-
Yeah, joke isnt funny
however matt, Ill be interested to see how this project comes along, you've gotta a long time to go........ ;)
-
I do got to add the stern of GSJ, then cut most of the white part of ther hull away for walkways on the sides ad then it will be moved from her Atlantic spot to a nearby port for her stuff she needs, like her bridge, and a baseball field for fun.
-
Gee. Is that another joke?

Why not cut it all off and start again?

Well at least it will not fit into a game, not even VS ;)
-
Once again guys its only a fictional project.....
-
The stern and cut away thing I said ain't a joke. Oh and Jonah, Since the GSJ works for both Blue Star Line and Orange Star Line, It is gonna hold a port for the ships of both BSL and OSL. Great for T2's third voyage. She had already done 2 of her voyages, oone to Rome from Rotterdam, and her maiden voyage, which was bad, after fliping like the Poseidon, but landing straight up, 200 of her passengers were lost in the sea. They were never found. And the GSJ will have a construction site for more OSL and BSL ships in the near future.
-
Loss of life on the seas is not to be taken that lightly, in my opinion.. :-\
-
after a major storm is a great loss. Some of her crew were lost, and almost lost the captain. but OSL still got a search vessel out there still trying to find them.
