Hi Everyone
My name is Scott, and I'm an Administrator at Titan. We're trying to put together an advanced captain's test, two part. One is a written exam, and the other is a practical exam in MP, where we watch. We already have such a thing, but it is very basic, and we want this to be as realistic as possible. We would appreciate your input on all aspects of it, from the questions that should be on a written test, to what the practical should entail. If you have any ideas on this, please PM me here, or at www.titanshipping.net. Thank you all.

Hi Scott,
When you say a Captain's test-Practical Exam in MP, what exactly are you going to be watching us on/testing us on? the general idea of skippering a ship? Or testing us on what interests us ourselves?
Jack.

We're leaning toward a full evolution docking of Vermass in New York harbor, testing on ship handling, signal knowledge, and....well.....that was the idea of posting this here, to get ideas on what we could do....What do you think?

Take her up the Hackensack River and dock her in Secaucus.

How about some basic tests, to gain credits towards the qualification?
Such as knowing the names for the letters ("alpha" to "zulu" etc).
And knowledge of basic radio usage. Over.
The ability to quote bearings whilst stood on the bridge (Vermaas is 270 degrees off)
And so on.

That sounds good to me Terry, would put me to the test, see how different boating is to shipping  ;D

I would say knowing horn signals different buoys and other things

It would be great if yu could do the flags as well, but you'll need the Pro version for that.

Well gentlemen, thank you for all the kind input. The practical test outline is complete, and available at www.titanshipping.net. The written test is still up in the air, feel free to float more ideas, but it should be completed tomorrow. Thank you for all your ideas and your time.
