Title: Heads up warning in particular to mods and admin

Hey guys,

Myself running a different type of forums. Them being Invision Power Board and this being simple machines this may not affect yourselves yet but just a heads up. Automated users are registering and sending personal messages of spam. Invision powerboard announced this to us admins and are concerned it will spread being a recession and a much more desired need for money nowdays. I have already stepped up my forums administration team and features. If ANYONE sends you guys a private message along the lines of. "Hey look at this funny image" and a link, do not click it. Report the user to a moderator at once.

As i say i hope this isn't going to reach this type of forum yet however i felt the need to give you a heads up.

Yeah, i got that warning from Forumotion the other day and put a firewall up on BSL.

Yea it's annoying. Invision are working on a patch for us so we can try and stop this. Is the recession really that bad that people have to now annoy because they want business. I dunno  ::)

Thanks for the warning, I've shut down my old forum in the mean time, until everything is sorted :thumbs:

You didnt have to shut it down Jack ;D You just need to put a firewall up.

Then again it was completely dead any way ;D

See like your actual company hosters should do that. My forum im reffering to isn't a free one. It's a fully licensed IPB one. Support on them starts getting dodgey as you bought it.

Oh, I thought you were talking about SSN, but you werent. We got the same warning though.
