Happy birthday Terry ;D

Coo, thanks!
My wife bought me a 16-track digital mixing console for my audio studio. It hooks into the 32-track digital recording system that I have. (I love my toys)
It has full programmable controls and a 32-hour session memory, so that I can slide the controls up and down during the sessions and then play it back and watch them move on their own during the replay. If I want to adjust anything, I just move the controls to wherever I want them and the system memorises the settings. Cool! Magic!
It has 16 PFL channels, switchable headphone monitoring for all channels and... and.... and.... It's a beauty. Like my wife. ;D
-
hehe nice terry, boys and their toys ;D

Terry,
Better late than never, hope the day was good, apart from the goodies that is. I try to forget birthdays nowadays they remind me that I'm a year older and I don't like that. ::)

It's not fully un-crated yet, but this is from the user guide.

Double sided face... Since when do you stay on topic after the initial post. ;D

Tssk tssk, someone is a bit jealous ;D
Terry, you preferred the mixing board above the navigation console? :o

I would never judge one present against another. It was selected with great care and love. It is a wonderful present. I do a lot of audio work, so it is most welcome.
The console? Well, there is Christmas. Or "just because we felt like it".

It’s not nice to pick on the birthday boy.
I hope his wife had enough money left over to buy herself earplugs, and remembered to have the flanger disabled.
Happy Birthday Terry

Some of the sound recording is of my wife's harp-playing and that of her co-performers. In order to properly record her larger harps, it takes 4 or 5 channels.
Thanks, Marty!
And congratulations on your promotion. Well-deserved, I'd say!
Happy birthday Terry, catching up with me now!!
Nah, you're rocketing off into the distance...

Does she play the pedal harp, or the lever harp?
I should take back my remark about the flanger: I think both Catrin Finch and Andreja Maliř have experimented with it.
-
Does she play the pedal harp, or the lever harp?
Levers. She is a Harper, rather than a Harpist.
But these "folk harps" range from small things that can be carried under one arm, up to versions that require three of us to move them.
Here's a couple of the smallest harps.
And a cartoon of my wife's medium sized harp. And a shot of another one, at Tawin Island, Galway Bay, Ireland.
The largest harp stands over six foot high.
-
hey terry happy birthday!!
\_/   :D ;D ;D
-
Those are nice instruments.
Much development of the lever harp took place in Mexico—around Vera Cruz.
Some of the best lever harps in North America are made about 20 miles south of here in Corvallis Oregon.
-
Many of my wife's harps were made in the USA. Not sure where. I'll have to ask. One harp was made in Galway, Ireland.
-
It’s important to find a reliable maker. You don’t want one that will implode if you sharp one string too many!
-
Talking about reliabale makers, Once I was in a competition back in Ireland, and some poor's lad's bellows fell off the bass side of his accordion! hahahahaha .
Let me show you what I mean:
Accordion's can be very expensive instruments, you can come into the £4000 mark with them (If your looking for the hand made accordions). Average being (for the more bass notes you have, and trble etc.) around the £2000-£3000 (the Price range of my accordion).
Luckily I've had no significant problems with mine as yet, but gets used that often, and so many parts in the accordion, that things can happen now and again. Mine was a bit more expesnive, because, the reeds in the accordion were all hand made, a nice accordion, very nice sound too. I love it very much ;D
Anyway, enough blabbering from me
Jack
p.s. Lots of people still play the harp in Ireland Terry, I've been in a duet/session with some harp players in the past.
-
Cake day Terry! Happy cake! ;D
-
Thanks!
Marty:
My wife's larger harp was made by Blessley. It's the cross-strung Orion, in purpleheart wood.
http://www.pacifier.com/~blesses/bihpmod.html
If you look at the one played by Harper Tache (click on the Orion links on the above page), it's identical. In fact she bought it due to Harper's reccommendation.
Some of her harps do come from the Oregon area...
