Title: Demo Version, System Hardware Requirements
Post by: Prerow on February 24, 2009, 21:07:50
Hi

Hope this is in the right message board... I downloaded the Demo version yesterday night and (as my home PC crashes because of it) I loaded it on my PC at work. This is a 2.2GHz (min) intel dual core (so not soo bad) with XP with a built in ATI Radeon Express 200 card (probably not suitable).
Anyway, it takes forever for the program to load (about 4 minutes), the responses to the mouse inputs are sluggish at best especially with the menus, the video frame rate pretty bad and it is very jerky. I have put the graphics to minimum, that helped a little.
Despite of all this, I love it and nearly got nearly seasick :) I want more :)

Any advice on how to tweak it and what hardware to use?
BTW, is there any documentation? I had such trouble using the thrust with the mosue as on the KBD it always jumps back, or I don't know how to use it. Everything is so slow....

Added a GeForce 9600GT to the PC today! Whow,  love it! Phantastic Software! I'm converted. Shipsim rocks! Or rolls? I want more!

Glad it worked out OK for you in the end.

I too upgraded my graphic card a while ago & was dead chuffed with the difference!  ;D

My system was terrible. I got probably 2 fps during that. By the time you are done using the demo, you will hate that little Arrie Visser.

Hi Prerow.

Your processor is below minimum requirements, but then a lot of people seem to have a good exerience with less than you have.

But it is possible that you may get crashes from time to time if the processor can't keep up with some of the missions. Most will probably be OK, but some may never wok properly.

Also, you may not get into the multiplayer side of things. It's possible your PC will crash out, rather than connect. You might be OK, but no guarantees.  ;)
