Title: SS 2008 1.4.2 patch

Man, the only site I can get the patch from is gamershell.
Firefox is telling me it's going to take 1 day to download, I know it's not true but how long will it take?
As i've only got SS 2008 yesterday waiting for this patch is going to be a nightmare as my current patch is 1.1.
Does anyone know how long it will really take?

I downloaded it from there about a week ago. It took about 15 minutes, I think.

Suggest you save the file, in case you need to reinstall it again at some stage.

It might be that a lot of people are using that site right now and it means you're sharing the bandwidth with a number of other people. It might be better to try again later.

Ahoy maffers,
and welcome to the Forum (beat You on that one, Terry  ;D). How long the download takes depends also on Your connection speed. I downloaded it with a cable connection  with a download rate about 800 KByte/sec and it took me about 15 minutes. In addition to Terrys suggestion: Burn it on a CD-R or CD-RW, just in case.

Thanks for all your help. I'm saving it to my laptop. I have a good connection speed and tryed a different mirror and that sped up the whole process. However I've done 30% and it says it will take 3 hours. I guess I'll wait it out but do you have any suggestions

Any help would be appreciated

What mirror are you using? Try the Dutch one. It's about ten times faster then the other one.

If you're suitably located (i.e. in Europe). If in the USA, try a USA one. If in Australia, try an Australian one, etc.

But as you must be nearly finished now, I'd suggest having dinner or something while you wait for it to finish.

I can't get onto the Dutch mirror as is says the file you requested could not be found.
My other download crashed so I'm open to any suggestions as to what to do now

Ps I'm using the worthplaying site as the only one on gamershell is Australian and I can't get on to atomicgamer

Get rid of Firefox (for this session only) start Internet explorer and use the Dutch Mirror from Gamershell. The Australin gives 100MBit/sec the Dutch one gives 1000 MBit/sec.
