Title: Container Ship Engines
Post by: Agent|Austin on February 01, 2009, 20:14:22
One of my friends from DHS works on building these monsters.

These are all at least 95,000 hp. The 14 cylinder versions are up to 115,000 hp now. They weigh between 2,200 and 2,500 tons.

It is supposed to have come out of a big 100,000 hp Wartsila-Sulzer container ship engine.

Here are the turbos. The v14's have 4 turbos so I would assume that the 24's would have 5 or 6

Edit:

Similar turbo: http://library.abb.com/global/scot/scot208.nsf/veritydisplay/dce75eac1aa8f20cc1256fce00565df3/$File/2058_TPL91B.pdf

Notice the feature: Low Nosie, that thing probably sounds like a jet!
