for some days ago Microsoft did realesed Windows 7 beta.
i have readed on vg.no that you can download the beta windows 7, if you got Windows Vista.
then you can try the beta to 19 August i think.

After reading some tests it looks like Windows 7 got a better performance than Vista...well I at least hope so in the end when it's released. ::)

I haw the windows 7 on my PC and i can say it's look like Vista, not so mush different that you can see, but it's faster and it can address more memories in the 32 bit version i downloaded, i haw vista 64 bit and 8gb memory and windows 7 are using it all, if you will try it i haw a warning to your, install it on a odder Hard drive NOT on the same you haw vista or xp on, windows 7 can destroy your mp3 files it faster and work perfect ??? :o to be from Microsoft :-\ and to bee a beta it's pretty stable

I posted aout Windows 7 a while ago, somewhere on this forum.
Despite the claims, there are no major changes between Vista and Windowns 7. It is mainly a roll-p of xisting patches plus a couple of newish applications/tools. You won't see any changes in that UAC system, unfortunately. But with some of the bug fixes, it will behave a little better than the current version of Vista. But certainly nothing major. It is probably less different to SP1 of Vista than SP1 was was to the original.
There is another SP coming soon for Vista. That will make the differences even less significant.
The purpose is really a smokescreen, so far as I can see. At the moment, businesses are ignoring Vista to a great extent. By issuing what is effectively SP3 but inder a different name, Microsoft are trying to enable themselves to say, "Look! No significant changes this time. Your people don't need to re-learn everything yet again." But they don't give people credit for brains, I think.
Many people in the business environment will probably miss this version as well.

Does it mean we will have to go out and get this instead of Vista now?

I wouldn't bother. It won't be out for a while yet, and if you have Vista with all the updates installed, you'll pretty much have Windows 7.
Consider it to be Vista with clean underpants...

Windows 7 are a bit and joust a bit different from vista, but it i will not spend money on it before i see the next service pack to vista, i are satisfies with my vista now, i see the win 7 as a big update of vista nothing sensational news and they also removed some program's that you most download like movie maker IE media player ETC. . the biggest news i see in win 07 are the Paint program that has been beather and that i think is not good enough to spend 3 or 4 000 NOK on

I got both...I only see a visual difference between them and a slightly different use of RAM since the other system I run Vista 64-bit on got 8 GB detected while this computer with XP 32-bit got 6 GB RAM installed and only 3 GB is detected. ::)
BTW..I don't see why they should make another 32-bit OS now since computers can have more RAM. And these OS RAM limits are pretty stupid things if you ask me. :(

Windows 7 looks like Vista, yes... but it still BETA!? Much can be changed... What is more facial lift end is that you can use touchscreen on Windows 7 Beta... :)

hmm, i rarely like doing beta things, especially with something as big as my whole OS, i'll stick with dirty underpants vista :D works fine for me on my laptop ;D

If you haw windows xp wait and bay windows 7, if you haw vista, i do not see the need right now for win 7 kip vista.

Here is my "micro-review" of Windows 7 Beta 1:
1)The new task bar is okay, not great though.
2)This could be the full version, it has very few bugs
3)It uses very little system resources, I have it running on 650 MB of memory under VMware Fusion (And it isn't slow)
4)It's a little more intuitive than Windows Vista
5)The UAC is much less invasive than in Windows Vista, it doesn't pop-up every other time you click on something
Let me repeat, this is running under virtualization (VMware Fusion 2) on my MacBook Pro.

I haw now installed SS 08 in windows 7, and it run perfect. Haw tried multi play several times and missions, no QV crash so fare. but it can be i had luck with me, but it seems to run quicker and more smooth, and yes Windows 7 run beater and Vista.

Sorry to wake this topic from its slumbers but I thought that anyone with the RC or beta of Windows 7 should be aware of these deadlines (now set in stone, according to the Microsoft Technical update I received today).
Of particular note is the Windows 7 beta timescale:
- Windows 7 RC expires on 1 June 2010. Starting on 1 March 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours.
-Windows 7 Beta expires on 1 August 2009. Bi-hourly shutdowns will start from 1 July 2009.

I am on Vista, no reason top change, but why will your computer shut down every 2 hours after 1 March 2010...? Has the Millennium Bug decided it wants to be 10 yrs late...

You need to read my post a bit closer. ;D
Microsoft have built the Windows 7 Beta and Release Candidate versions to shut down every two hours deliberately.
That way, people won't try to use the free RC and beta versions after the dates I stated above. Or if they do, Windows 7 will be just about unusable.

I've read of a lot of people having major problems when they tried to roll back. It usually ended with a complete wipe of the disk and a reinstall from the beginning. That's typical of the Beta versions and Microsoft do warn about that.
I think it's on page 2,123 of the terms & conditions if you print the manual i 2 point Arial. :doh:

All Windows 7 is "Beta" or "Release Candidate" (which is just a type of beta that is closer to final release). When they release it, then it is "Production".
You can't get Windows 7 yet as they haven't released it yet.

(1) Dunno. The great Lords of Microsoft will no doubt get some aging bunch of has-been pop stars to sing about it when the time arrives.
(2) Basically, most people use the 32 bit version of XP and Vista.
The 64 bit version in theory allows you to have vast amounts of memory.
In practice, few programs support it, and it crashes a lot.
