Hi Guys,
I posted on this forum a few months ago as i was thinking about getting SS08, Ive finally done it and bought it along with Horizons! WHOOO HOOO!!!
I'm running XP and have got an Athlon 64 bit processor with 3400mhz speed , 2gb of ram and loads of HD space (250gb free), the only thing lacking was a decent graphics card, so ive done a bit of a rush job and bought a cheap, secondhand Geforce 7300GS with 256mb from ebay, will this be enough to get me by till I can afford a better one, or have I wasted my money?
Cheers guys!
Steve ;)

Hi Steve.
This isn't really a technical support issue, so I'll move it to "small talk" before that Terry Russell chap comes along and grumbles about it. Take a look at the posting guidelines:

But, yes, that card will work with Ship Simulator. The 8800 GTX is probably the best , but the 7 series aren't bad.

Sorry terry, I thought a hardware compatability issue question was technical, i'll know better for next time!
Cheers!
Will it work dog slow or ok, in other words is it on the lower limit of what SS08 needs to run?
Thanks mate

No problem. Basically, the Tech Support Forum is for problems with the simulator, not for "will my PC be OK?" type questions. I know it isn't always immediately obvious, so I just mumble about it and don't get too upset about clutter in "my" section of the forum. Hehheh
Actually, that card isn't bad. It might struggle a little if you have complex vessels such as Jumbo, Titanic or Latitude. And some environments might make it wince a little (Solent, Rotterdam, Hamburg). But it may be perfectly OK.
Take a look at my 3d setup guidelines and tweak the settings. Then you'll probably find it will work OK. There are some other guides you might find of use there as well.

Hi There!
I have the same Graphics Card as you, and everything else you have seems to be better than mine, And I can run Ship Simulator without any problems. So you should be fine! :)
Good luck!
Kind Regards,
Jack :)
