Instead of starting a new topic everytime something happens in the world of ships, you can post it here..
Starting off: an Indian warship has destroyed a pirate ship off the north coast of Somalia, in the Gulf of Aden..
Apparently the pirate ship refused to stop to be investigated, and threatened to blow up the Indian navy ship (which is kind of like threatening to hit Mike Tyson) Here's the story..

It's the weight...
Loaded = more into the water
Not loaded = more out of the water

I didn't quite get those pictures, but does that mean the pirates are pumping the oil out..?

(It would be nice if you didn't treat us as simpletons, Season..)
???
-
That's right: loaded = deep, not loaded = not so deep
It does seem strange that the news reports that the ship was fully laden with oil, but she appears empty on the picture..It must be an old picture

update: the pirates are demanding $ 25 million ransom..

Yeah we have nathan, Its all pirates and death. If only there was some good shipping news....

Yes, the launch of a beautifull new ship for example.. :)

Man Dies onboard "Pride of Hull"
http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/localnews/Man-dies-on-board-Hullbound.4766785.jp
The Rotterdam-Hull route isn't having a good week really :o
-
Is there any good news at the moment? A man falling overboard, A 54 year old dying suddenly, A recession, and Norwich beating Ipswich 2-0. How depressing. :-[
But hey, Its christmas :)
-
Seems not RMS,
P&O Are certainly having bad luck this week! The Pride of Hull had an engine fire this morning and was left drifting 50 miles out to sea. Luckily it was put out quickly, and she's now docked in Hull, ready to sail again at 21:00 tonight.
