The New Carnival dream, great ship, even if it does have a large forehead
I also like the new MSC ships, fantasia and splendida
Ocean Village 2-Ive had a cruise on it, lovely ship
The Celebrity Solstice

I like all the major cruise ship companies aswell, Including all those owned by Carnival corp.

Umm, then don't post... And then I wonder why your name is "TheTitanicExpert" and you have a photo of the Titanic in your avatar... I'm pretty sure Titanic was a cruise ship.

Titanic was an ocean liner. They differ from cruise ships. Ocean liners are built for speed with slim hulls etc. Cruise ships are built for calmer waters and are not built for say transatlantic service. Speed is not there main aim, Its about luxury and fun. The first proper cruise ships didn't come in until about the sixties, and its been cruise ships all the way pretty much ever since. The difference being QM2, which is an ocean liner mainly but has cruise ship characteristics like a wider hull for example. But now Im waffling, so ill stop. Although you do have a point when you tell him not to post, I mean if your not interested in the topic why post? (No offence TE)

I'm just saying that I'm not into cruise ships. I find ocean liners more interesting than those "floating boxes of steel" we call cruise ships.

I have two favorites. :D Both are ocean liners. One is no longer with us. :(
The Normandie was arguably the most beautiful ocean liner to ever grace the sea. She is, simply put, the only ship I have ever seen that had no bad angles. You could have viewed her from above, side, below...every angle was pure art.
The SS United States was the absolute pinnacle of engineering and safety. A more handsome ship then dead-Spambot like the Normandie.
-
I think The QE2 The One Thats Finished And Gone To Dubai To Be A Floating Hotel, Best One I Think!

Your right, The Normandie was just sheer perfection from every angle, absoloutly beautiful, amazing peice of engineering, one of my favourite ocean liners ever.

First of all, cruise ships are floating steel boxes. Ocean liners are like knives cutting through the water. Cruise ships are basicly barges pushing water out of the way.

Well Ok then, although I disagree with 'floating steel boxes' but hey, we all have our opinions
-
How about we all go away from this argument over which are better ocean liners or cruise ships and just go back to what this post was originally for. i know I started this argument but now I'm ending it.
-
true, we should get back on topic if we want this topic to stay ::)
-
Alright so let's do it :D

So don't post... :-\ ???
It's not really your choice if I can post or not.

Nice ship, season, I gotta get used to calling you that. I like the Celebrity Solstice:
-

No that is one of the (I don't recall the exact term) enclosed lifeboats. Also while this next pic is not exactly a "cruise" ship, she was on a world cruise at the time and put in a port call here in NYC. Enjoy.
-
Wow, that looks very weird and unique and beautiful at the same time :P ! Great ship.
-
so do river cruises count?
Yes Post away ;D

Thanks. This is a very old photo (as is the one of the 1959 SS Rotterdam) which I took myself many years ago. I scanned it into the computer and cleaned it up some. SS Canberra (1961) was ,like Rotterdam, a trend setter in doing away with the midship funnel in favor of the twin rear mounted "uptakes". Canberra was also one (if not) of the first large ocean going liners to place the lifeboats low on the superstructure, thus setting the pattern which we now see in almost all the new cruise vessels. And now another old photo, this time of QE2 before she was converted to diesel as evidenced by the original tall, thin, statuesque funnel.

That M/V Dragon is very innovative. I love it.
-
Those River cruise boats look brilliant, I like them
-
The one with dragon head is really unique. i like it ;D
Is the bridge inside the mouth?

i like the last one in your post, i didn't see a name though :P
-
One of my favorite is Oasis of the Seas, being built by Royal Caribbean International. Favorite ships currently in service include QM2 and Europa (Europa has been officialy the most luxurious cruise ship afloat since 2001)
-

yeah beautiful shots huh not taken by me tho
well see there is a little white board right blow the funnel with red and black thing on it thats the name written in chinese tho :P
-
I love the designs of that 'dragon ship' very innovative, and I look at that ship and dont think its a vessel, it looks more like part of a chinese town. Infact I once went to phantasialand in germany and for som reason the top deck reminds me of the china town they have there. I dont know why, but there you go.

Yes I like them ones too, especially QM2. and the stuff they will have on Oasis of the seas is pure genius!

Nice ship, season, I gotta get used to calling you that. I like the Celebrity Solstice:
Been looking at the Solstice for the past month or so. Gorgeous ship. She has been doing quite a bit of sitting here. Kudos to the engineers at Meyer Werft for finishing her WAY ahead of schedule. Her first scheduled cruise from Port Everglades was supposed to be November 23, 2008, but she is doing some short inaugural cruises in the interim. Ship has real grass on the top deck and a Corning Glass Museum glass blowing exhibition. I also got my first look at the Independence of the Seas yesterday. Much better looking than the standard Voyager class.
We are looking forward to welcoming the Oasis of the Seas in 2009. Port Everglades will have both Genesis class ships, they will contribute 2.1 million annual passengers...by themselves.
Here is a local link about the Independence being here yesterday with a brief glimpse of the Solstice.

The dragon ship is incredibly cool. What I wouldn't give to get that in ship sim.

Yeah i saw one of her sister ships Liberty of the Seas when i was leaving from Miami on my cruise. those are some big ships!
-
I think the best looking cruise ship at the moment is the Freedom class. They are beautiful, nicely rounded and not too boxy.
-
Yeah they look cool, the new Oasis of the seas is gonna be awsome as well.
