Post by: llamalord on November 10, 2008, 03:36:37
Not much to say but has anyone else noticed the red and black second super tanker in the last four pictures in the Latitude's menu in the main SS08 "Ships" Page? :-\

I remember seeing those pics in another topic....

Now it's like the picture of the Vermaas model and how it says "Indus"!

It is definitely not a re-skin of Latitude—the deck is different.
It is not part of SS Pro, either as a player ship or static/AI.
As discussed in A|A’s link, it is in one or more of the training programs—probably as a static ship, possibly for FIFI exercises.

The ship in my previous post is a bulk carrier from SS Pro. There is a clamshell unloading crane that goes with her.

Any plans for SS08/9? The deck seems wrong in that colour..

Hi Nathan,
I think that there is a chance that any ship from Pro could trickle down into 08,9,10 assuming it can function there. The dynamics are quite different for Pro ships because they are made for a different sea model.
The Bulker/crane combo can be seen in action in the “Making of…” video included in Collector’s Edition.
They were made specifically for a client for demonstration purposes—similar to the Jumbo Javelin project.
Regards,
Marty
