Title: I would like to sink some ships
Post by: RMS Canada on November 06, 2008, 18:08:10
I am rather curious to see how the Pride of Rotterdam and the Latitude sink once damaged.  I tried to sink them on free roam in New York but it was a failure.  I just wanted to ask...

Do you have any tips or suggestions on how to sink ships in harbors like New York?  I'm not asking on how to sink boats like the powerboat or watertaxi.

Bit of an odd question??

I'd rather not know how ships sink to be honest.

I'm just wondering.  I know how Titanic sank, but what about the other ships in the game?

I didn't know you could do that.  I thought you had to crash into a computer-controlled vessel.

In answer to a question about how Elbe & Furie sink, I posted pictures and explained that, in deep water, most ships simply settle, some by the head, some by the stern—usually depending upon where the superstructure is.
In shallow water they may not go completely under, and may list depending upon the bottom contour.
If you want to watch a ship sink completely, do it with a trigger in the mission editor.
It is difficult to do it in free-roam.

Pride of Rotterdam sinks Bow first - Slowly goes down without listing, then sits still for a few seconds, and then suddenly goes down by the head in a couple of seconds.

I only know this after some idiot rammed me in MP....

So you're saying is ships sink differently than others in SS08.

I'm just proving that I didn't ram the POR in multiplayer.  And yes, I know how.

Your problem is you tried to sink it in port, its too shallow there, you need to sink it in open sea.
