That is the internet peoblem. Vista does not run to expectations with rigs of rods online. However, single player should work fine ;).

Yeh its quite good although my computer cant handle high graphics very well what with my slow cpu. Saying that, GRID flys along very well

But yor signature says that your computer is the best... With 4 gb von ram and a 9800 navida video card. Could you explain the slowness of your computer?

I think the Titanic should be in RoR.

and I mean a decent model, not like Virtual Sailor's "Titanic" (in quotes because that model's true identity is highly questionable)

That would bring your FPS pretty low unless you make a simple boat and just add a mess on it. But if you had that many nodes and beams and submeshed it, it would kill. I believe there is a limit on nodes anyway. A mesh might be better.

My CPU is the main problem, thats why with a game like GRID it runs great; it is most GPU doing the work. In games like FS2004 it isnt so good as the CPU isn't the fastest

Well how come it isin't fast? It seems that you have a great computer! Too many games to slow it down ;D?

the processor he has is only a 2.4ghz dual core, my laptop has a 2.5 ghz dual core, desktop a 2.8 ghz dual core. RoR is quite demanding actually. ::)

Is it true that if you run too many games on your computer (not at the same time of course) it can damage it? And about RigsofRods it says that for all the graphics stuff you need a good GPU, but really I think that most of it is CPU, especially shadows

I have shadows of. But it lags on some systems because of the physics.

I've never heard that one before. Sorry if I'm laughing, but that sounds like something a parent might say to a child/teenager spending "too much time playing games".

Post by: The Captain on November 04, 2008, 23:08:43
That really is a proposterous statement. No, I doubt that it can damage your computer, but it can most definately slow it down ;). That is why you must scan your PC for files and things that don't need to be there. I think it is called something like "file extraction". It takes all night though. But when it is done extracting files, your PC will actually run faster!

Well... it's not that I play too many games, it just seems to them that since I got some new games my computer has been messing about. But its the dodgy ram that is the problem, it's been crashing a lot since we updated it a few months ago. If your computer hangs and crashes, do you hear a buzzing sound coming from the speakers at the same tone the last sound was?

You definitely have a problem. Who knows what, though. Unlikely to be a game, unless it screwed something up, accidentally.
