anyone know where you can get a joypad or the controls to plug into your computer that consists of bow thrusters, throttle controls and the ships wheel? playing with the keyboard and mouse sucks.

Hi Steve18.
This has been already discussed lots of time before.
You can use whatever combination of joysticks you want. There's no specific joystick for ship simulator now, but Rail Driver plans to release one, announced for "early 2009" : http://www.raildriver.com/products/shipdriver.php
Keep in mind that today, no joystick set up can be used for azimuth propelled ships (Ocean Star and Bugsier), and a good keyboard config remains - imho - the best solution.

To add to what Denis said: The use of gaming joysticks for AZ drives is generally unsatisfactory because such sticks work in Cartesian coordinates, while the joysticks on vessels work in polar coordinates.
For many missions requiring precise course holding or maneuvering, even keys fall short. Using the mouse on the controls is a skill you should acquire.

Hello Steve 18,
I agree with Denis and MVSmith.Try a Logitec 3D Pro Joystick thats what I am using its quite suitable.
