You may want to get a better processor for the future..
The minimum spec for ShipSim now is a 2.4 Ghz processor.. :)

didnt you read the bottom of my post i said i was gonna get a 2.66 if this worked or a 2.7
-
While a 2.7 Ghz processor is sufficient now (but only just), we don't know about the requirements for future Shipsims...
So I would go for a bit bigger upgrade processor-wise, is all I'm saying.. ;)

I'm unsure as to whether ship sim can utilise two cores but he mentioned a dual core processor. This would work better than a single core as one core could run the O/S when the other could run ShipSim and so the game would run quicker. A 2.4Ghz single core processor may not run better than a 2.4Ghz dual or quad core.
Please correct me if I'm wrong although I think that's the general way at looking at it :)

I thought the CPU you posted in your other topic about the same thing was better?

Hi Bbydino05.
Please don't start multiple topics about the same thing. Please decide which one you want to be active, and then lock the other one.
And don't make posts in the Ship Simulator 2008 area unless it is a technical support query about the demo game. I may delete any further posts you make in that area without warning.
This thread should be in Small Talk. Which is where I will now move it.
Thanks.

i found one for a really good price for a 3 ghz and i want to know if it will work faster the same or slower than a pentium processor
Intel
3 GHz Core 2 Duo E8400 Processor
Usually Ships Within 24 Hours
Manufacturer Part# BX80570E8400
Dell Part# A1481295
Type / Form Factor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Compatible Processor Socket: LGA775 Socket Starting Price $219.99

Well its faster, probably has a bigger fsb and is more expensive so it will probably work better. They wouldn't charge you more for something that is worse

You've never been to Macdonalds, then? Or bought a PC from Dell?
-
That's a very good point. But would you buy a slower PC from Dell, and pay more than for a faster PC from Dell?
-
Not knowingly, but I have seen enough times when a worse product is hyped up and sold for more.
Some of the Nvidia 9 series cards seem to fit the bill.
-
Yes, well, some people like cards that cost lots and make lots of noise and have drivers that don't agree with them. That's my experience of a Nvidia 9 series card. Anyway, I meant about the two processors, an E2220 vs and E8400 would be a relatively one sided fight, unless of course the architecture of a Pentium dual core is faster than a Wolfdale.
