Good luck.

I've built a lot over the years. But, it is so easy to make a mistake and waste a lot of money... In any case, at this point in time it seems cheaper and easier to get one ready-built. Most PC suppliers are struggling for business and they have ways to let you customise the components.

Just make sure you don't buy from a company that is about to go bust with your money.

In the UK, if you buy with a credit card (but NOT with a debit card), the credit card company is responsible for giving you your money back in that event. (Not sure if that applies for things purchased from overseas, though).

Building your own pc is sooo 2007  :D

I also had a home made pc, but i rather buy a pre fabricated pc now. These days it aint cheaper anymore to built your own one. Like Terry said, you can customize it now when you buy it in the store. Then you also know that all components are compatible and you get Windows (if you like) with it. That's something you have to buy extra if you are building your own one. One thing i especialy like, is the guarantee. If mine breaks down, they send some one to fix it  ;D

But if you like building pc's and you have the experience then, why not  :)

Here's how to work it out:

That's probably what it will cost you to do it yourself, assuming nothing goes wrong. Of course, you have no warranties if you've made any mistakes, unlike a ready-built version.

yea, its great that companies offer a wide variety of components for a computer to be built with. Next school year i'm going to a program where you learn a job and i'll be doing computer repair (since i already know alot about them and love working with them) and one of the thinks we'll do is build a computer. So i was just wondering how hard it might be. :)
