The around-the-world Volvo Ocean Race is about to begin in a few weeks time, on October 4th..
Since today they have re-designed the website, it looks very good..
There's all the information and the latest news. Also you can take a virtual tour of a Volvo 70 ship..
Another very nice feature is the "Virtual Spectator", with which you can follow the race.
It has not been released yet, but it will be one of these days. I'll keep a look out for it..
Here's the site, check it out.. :)

This looks exiting, I'm going to check it out right now.

Here are some good pics.. :)
-
Nice pics, that must be very hard
-
They have now introduced a free virtual sailing game, that you can play simultaneously with the race..
As it is in real time, this game takes about 9 months to complete..(at least.. ;)

I just looked at the 3D virtual tour, and I would say that I would never get on board a boat that small. You'd have to be very desperate for money to enter the race. I also checked out the info for the game, It looks fun, so you may not see me on multiplayer for a while. ;) ;)

Well the race isn't about confort, but mostly pride I think, would be fun to have a boat to race with

Here are some good video's, to give you some idea what these guys go through..

Good video, that is a hard race

Well, it took them a few days, but finally Virtual Spectator have released their 3D race viewer..
I just installed it, and it looks great. You can follow the race from different camera angles, (orbit, fleet, ship, helm) and there are many options to choose from. The graphics are delicious. Sorry I can't add a screen-shot.
As it is the first day of release, I expect they will gradually improve it as time goes on..
If you want to try it, all you have to do is register..
Here's the page which explains it. Enjoy.. ;)

Is there anyone that plays the game?
-
Not me, but I like to watch the race progress on the Virtual Race-viewer every day.. ;)
Have you tried it yet..?
-
no I haven't, but I'm going to wach it, but I play the game, who knows, maby I'll end up with a volvo c30(dream on)
-
You should have a look..The Scandinavian boat, the Ericsson 4, is doing very well so far.. ;)
-
I tryed it, but it was kind of weird, maby I did something incorrect
-
First you need to register here:
http://registration.virtualspectator.com/registration/?service=vloc
You will then receive an E-mail with your activation code :)
-
Iy was like the time was going way too fast when I tryed it
-
Yes, unfortunatly you cannot slow down the speed.., that is annoying
Perhaps something they will fix in the future
But you can play it back as often as you like..
-
ah ok, I have it downloaded in another computer, at another place
