Title: I want to learn some Dutch!
Post by: IRI5HJ4CK on September 12, 2008, 21:22:59
Hi everyone,

Is there anyone here that speaks English, and speaks Dutch as well?

i'd like to be able to learn a bit of Dutch, so I can interact with non-English speakers online, and on the forum, would somebody be able to teach me the basics, and guide me through Dutch? I know this is asking a lot, but i'd like to think that they would appreciate me trying to speak their Language, and people in other countries that speak Dutch.

Thanks VERY much in advace, I know i'm asking a big favour, put I can pick up languages pretty quickly, when I keep at it.

Jack :)

Many Dutch people also speak English and German, because that is mandatory at high school, sometimes also French and Spanish. We are just multi talented people  :P

I checked out the RosettaStone website and I see the demo CD is no longer available. Now their demo is online and you have to sit through a long explaination of how it works and then it doesn't appear you have a choice of demo languages. I can't say for sure cause I disconnected before the demo was over. It's too bad, I got a demo cd from them awhile back and with it you can select which language you want demonstrated.

Some people say dutch is the most complicated language in the world, but I doubt it. I don't have any trouble with speaking Dutch though ;D. I did 'ancient' greek last year (that's a lot different to modern greek, at least they say so...) and that's far more complicated. That's probably why they don't use it anymore :D. Chinese won't be that easy too, I think. Anyway: good luck with teaching yourself, I hope you succeed ;)!

Why are you intrested? I know, you look very cool when you speak Dutch but it's only spoken in a few countries. A language like Spanish would give you more advantage. Perhaps some Dutch relatives?
