I like how terry uses my own quote for biting me in the rear end. Quite funny.
But ok, THAT IS FREAKING SCARY!

I see all, hear all and know all.
I may not remember my wife's name most days, but I remember most posts.... Heh heh.

I also know how to weld the suspension strengthening plates (short, medium and extra long sizes) in a Ford Cortina, Mark 1.

chevy engines are way diffrent then a ford.
terry just asking did you own a ford cortina
-
Ah, but British Ford engines are German, so they're different again.

Indeed, the hupmobile has a ford cobra in it though. And we have some mustang friends.
The imapala has a chevy 350 in it.
-
i know the enigne in my truck was made in motor city Also know as detroit Michigan.
-
when i get the boss mustang im going to get a 351 cleveland with a cobra jet. New shaker hood, and maybe if i have money left over custom paint job
-

Yes.
My second car was a Ford Anglia. Then, I had a Cortina Mark one 1500cc, then a Lotus Cortina. It was supposed to be a Mark Two, but it was a very early one, and it had a lot of Mark One parts in it. There were very few Mark Twos that had the Lotus concersion. It went like a rocket!
Had a Mark Four some years later, then a Ford Escort, Ford Transit Van, Fiesta, Mondeo, Granada and finally a Scorpio.
Ford stopped making Granadas a while ago, and the nearest thing I could find was the E-series Mercedes, which is what I drive nowadays.
-
very nice cars. My opinion is that the ford escort is the ugliest car ford made but its super reliable.
-
Don't forget, the Escort had about five different shapes. The early ones were basically small Cortinas.
I always thought that the Ford Popular was the ugliest.
My Dad mainly drove Fords. I remember standing on the running board of the Ford Prefect he had for many years. As kids, we used to bang on the side to make the sticky trafficator flags go back down. Great fun.
-
thats quite funny. I grew up with fords and im going to stick with them. Here is something i might do with the mustang im trying to get, There are some railroad tracks near my house and you can ramp off them going about 30 Mph so what im going to do is get the mustang and go about 50 or 60 mph and see how far i can go. I just hope i dont break the drive train
-
So if we don't hear from you again, we'll know you managed 60 mph?
I trust they're unused tracks and you can do that legally....
-
they are un-used and if im off the forum for more than 2 months it could be that i went to fast. and its legal
-
Around here, someone would find a law dating back to 823 that specifically meant the death penalty for doing it...
You think I jest? Only this weekend, someone took a herd of sheep across Tower Bridge in London, because they were entitled to do so under a Saxon Law from 826 (or thereabouts). That's like doing it on the Golden Gate Bridge in the rush hour!
-
i think i found the one i will buy http://www.mustangclassifieds.com/mustang-3065.html tell me what you think
-
I've got no experience of American Fords, so I can't really help much.
All of the ones we've been talking about would most likely be very different even if they have the same names here and in the USA. My wife (being American) commented on that when she moved here a few years ago. Same name, different car!
-
wow so what does the UK version of the ford escort look like this is the US one http://www.uniqueenterprisesonline.com/content/Ford%20Escort%20002.jpg
-
The early ones looked nothing like that. They had very rectangular edges. I can't tell the size from the image, but they used to be a lot smaller. Over the years they grew, bit by bit, and the engines got more and more powerful until they became a Cortina.
The first ones have 1100 cc engines. Later ones went up to 2,200 cc I think.
-
that ones a 2000 model
-
Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Escort_(Europe)) refreshed my memory, as I bought a white (interior red) Cortina 1500 4d. in 1965 (http://www.bebo.com/PhotoAlbumBig.jsp?PageNbr=1&MemberId=3595735705&PhotoAlbumId=0&PhotoId=8213358310), 2nd hand and replaced it with a new deep green Cortina 1600 GT (Mk2) end 1966, 96hp.
At that time in Belgium, there was not yet any Ford Escort, but indeed the little Anglia was very popular.
On the continent, the Cortina Mk2 was the last Ford model known as Cortina (but in the vicinity of Bielefeld or perhaps MönchenGladbach...). The following models were called Taunus.

Too much comentary!!! I hurts my brain.
And to think this all started with a single gun shot. ;D
-
I hurts my brain.
Please don't hurt your brain. And especially not that way! :o :o :o
(I know, it was a typo, but that missing "t" makes an immense amount of difference)
-
single gun shots can spark a post about cars
