uuhhhh... yeah... hopefully a virtual bridge simulator system, or it would become very expensive ;D
Maybe hardware bridge simulator systems can be built in the future, like the cockpits built for Flight Simulator by those who really have a lot of patience. :)

The price depends on the number of units we will produce.
The first unit we make will cost EUR 15,000, the second 12,000, number 10 probably EUR 6,000.
So if we can find 10 people, we can give you all a goo deal;)
The price is so high also because we intend to use real ship controls and not fake ones.
We are working on a sit-down version, I will post some screenshots tomorrow.

Wow, why use real ship controls??

I think that it is cheaper to buy a CNC mill so that you can make your own controls.

I am making my console in wood ;D (and yes, I am patient)

Where is the .exe file for?

It would be nice to see the control unit part for sale for the public as a USB connected addition for the game, with the wheel, thrust and engine controls with the electronic chart on a small LCD, I'm sure you would get large amount of intrest from shipsim users wanting one, but as you say it needs to be priced right for general public sales.

Yes we made a design for a small Ship Control Unit as advanced hardware input controller last year.
Trouble was, we could not find any manufacturer who was prepared to produce it in low volumes.
Now a 3rd party is developing a low-cost Ship Driver unit, see http://raildriver.com/products/shipdriver.php
They plan to bring it to market in 2008.

As for our professional console unit, we are developing another version with more navigation screens.
Radar, conning, ECDIS, and several panels with buttons.
It will run on 2 or 3 PCs instead of just one.
Its price, as you might expect, will be too high for non-professional users.
It will however be a good alternative for full mission bridge simulators that now cost several $100k or even several $ million. And it will be small enough to be used on board.
