I'd hate to seem like a jerk here but that looks an AWFUL lot like Mr Robville's model. Did you extract the model from the .x file in his Virtual Sailor release..?

1. There is no-way to convert from X.file to any other program.
2. The hullshape and components are very different.
3. I did start this from scratch and have modelling photos to prove.
4. If i had ripped off robvilles model which i would not having had the done to me...I would not have shown the model here at risk of giving any possible 'dodgyness' away.

well, then there is no way that i know of,

Also, if you are opening the x. files from the game into modelling programs, you may be violating the terms of their release.

No, i can give you my word that this model was started from scratch and built from photos only.
I do not copy, it is wrong.

also if robville were to see, i have done tis mesh myself, his hull is way different,
like look at this...

Are you kidding? I've loaded TONS of .x files from Virtual Sailor. (Not saying I stole them of course, but to see how they look..)

It's just too similar and that you claim to have done it in 2 weeks makes it very fishy..

that`s right.

Import the .x files in Ultimate Unwrap 3D.
Export them in .3ds for example
And open it in a modellers program of your choice.

ok everybody stop it. DC made this poseidon himself, i would reckonize my model out of thousands.
his hull is a lot smoother then mine and his accuracy to the shape of the ship is better then mine.

i see a lot of modellers posting their work without WIP scene's some people just do that, take a look at Serkan's Deniz Doga, i don't see any WIP's but he sure made the model.

the main modelling of the oceana also just took a few weeks, after that it was just correcting bugs.

also the portholes are 3d, and mine is a texture.
not to mention that DC has made a lot of cruiseships of this quality, and there is no ''duplicate'' to be found of it anywhere.

i appreciate the fact that people are alert about people stealing, it happens a lot, especialy in the CCC. but in this case you are wrong, DC really made this model himself, just to make it clear.

appart from that, awesome modelling you have done as always! especialy for sketchup models which are pretty hard to make at this quality!

btw, take a look at this wire frame model of mine and compare it to DC's

I must add to Mr Robville post that either by comparing the two models (there are obvious differences between them as pointed out above), either by knowing the modeler from another board (with a different username), that DC DID make this model himself for sure.
And you can be sure I'm VERY vigilant about intellectual rights and copyrights infringements. In the above case, there 's no such a thing towards Mr Robville's model. I would be among the very first persons to denounce that if that was the case. When it is the case, I've zero tolerance for that.

just a question:
how did you manage to create the poseidon from the 2005 series?
In only some scenes they show that ship!
Thats very impressive to create a whole model without not knowing about the ship that much
Your definetly a good modeller

First, thanks, no grudges held,
yes the poseidon 2005 was complicated to do as of course there is a very limited number of resources.
So it has taken me longer.

@Thanks dom for the compliment, thats very nice coming from a professional modeller like yourself.

I will continue to update the poseidon 2005 in this forum to those of you who are interested...
