I have notieced the forum activity dropped to almost nothing in the past few days, which means hopefully everyone is playing Ship Simulator 2008, so hopefully you all have alot of pictures from your adventures in SS08 so post them all here, I'll Start. KM

Yeah the drill rig got into the wrong game, was supposed to be a new plane for MS flight sim, had to tie it down with two strong tugs to control it ;D :D

Strange as it may sound, the Red Eagle is one of my favourite vessels. Maybe I'm a bit biased as she was built only a few miles from where I live. I can remember when she was launched and had trials in the River Clyde.
Here she is seen doing a 360o 'spin' just outside Cowes, Isle of Wight. I can imagine the Cowes Yacht Club commodore giving me a big disapproving tut-tut ;D

the picture of the cruise liner ocean star is it in shipsim 2006 add on or in shipsim 2008 it looks like shipsim 2008 it thought that the ships of shipsim 2006 are not yet in shipsim 2008?

It only works with SS06.. I think all ships in SS06 will com in one of the patches to 08 this year.. Read it somewhere i think.. Correct me if im wrong :)

All ships from the SS06 base game will be converted over, all ships from SS06 Add On will be released for free on SS08 for those that bought it originally.

In the open ocean I crashed into the container ship, vermaas I thought it was. I had already 10% damage when entering the solent harbour.
But after crashing into that concrete tower I only had 1% damage??

No you can´t, and also you can´t damage the Titanic and I believe the PoR too.

You can damage the PoR I found out when I hit a reef and put a whole in the bow.

I have damaged an AI PoR it had many dints, scratches and slight holes in it.

The P&O Ferry "Pride of Rotterdam" was hitted by some huge waves this morning. The ship sank quickly. We have actually no information about survivors. The coast guard is still working on a rescue mission.

Its in rotterdam. Just come in from the Rotterdam north sea and keep going you will see it. You had to moor there is a mission Rooster24 made. Here is a link http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,1369.0.html. (I think thats the right link.) ;)

You can click Additional options at the bottom of the post you are making and also add a picture there, by uploading it from your PC ;). Maximum 512kb per picture :)

Ok, I know how to take photos but they are not saved...

It doesn´t matter what I do...

Well I didn't know of F7 but I use the button in the bottom right menu. I thought it was next to the change view button.
When you click that you see the photo in the center of the scene and you here a shutter (I think it's called).
After that go to youre install directory, there is a folder named photographs I thought. There all your pictures are kept.

There should also be a folder link in the Start Menu for screenshots named 'My Pictures'

I completed the POR to the hook mission and then decided to take a little sightseeing toor and then return back to the berth (well allmost)....

Well, I checked that folder and it says that it´s here your fotos are stored, but I can´t see any, and, that you may delete the contents of that folder. Does that mean that I have to remove that ReadMe ???

well how do you know what the file says,did you or a friend download it.

If you are going to be sucsessfull in the world of PC:s, you have to know how to check the info of the programs you buy. There´s a way of checking those things, and if you are skillfull, you can even manipulate the game! Just search on Youtube, you will find videos like "I didn´t like the small waves of Ship Simulator 2008".

If you want to check that file, do like this; XP; Go into My Computer, and doubleclick the harddrive named C; scroll down to Vstep, doubleclick it, and doubleclick Photographs. There you´ll find the ReadMe. Open it, and you will see. Vista; Go to Computer, and do the same as above.

Because I was walking around I noticed a little to late that I was on the wrong side of the bouys. To late to correct it so the stern jumped up upon a sandbank. It just rolled over and I could sail further ;)

I have noticed the green and red buttons and switches. What do they do?
If we are looking at the same thing, they are engine on/off switches (remembering that I am colourblind) ;)
Check the screenshot below of the Red Eagle with the controls overlay on-screen, you may see them better ;)

Well, I checked that folder and it says that it´s here your fotos are stored, but I can´t see any, and, that you may delete the contents of that folder. Does that mean that I have to remove that ReadMe ???
I had that problem. I suspect you are using Vista.
Right click the shortcut and choose "Run as Administrator".
That should solve the problem

As I'm sure you can understand, Vstep can't reveal everything that they have planned for the future of Ship Simulator (not even to those testing it ;)). There isn't any fuel option at the moment, but we can hope eh ;D

If I see that pictures, I have a question to the betatesters. Can I land with the Hovercraft on the beach, and after that going from the beach back to the water? Or is the Hovercraft only a "fake hovewrcraft" that works like a normal boat on the sim?

No, I can't see a shadow - I see a clear visible bearthline - and this is the problem.
A radar is working like following method: An electronic radio wave is send by the radar beam; it hits a wall, a ship or what else inside the visible line and is reflected by such object. The radar beam receives the echo and calculates the distance by the time the signal needs from sending to receiving.
Like already noted, ONLY OBJECTS IN A CLEAR VISIBLE LINE. In conclusion to this: Nothing behind a object exept higher buildings than the first in line.
So normally you wouldn't see the bearth behind the building because the buliding is to high for the radarmast.

Excellent new controls, although it may be a good idea to use grey or orange on the white instruments compass etc to avoid blinding the user at night. In the same vein it would be good to be able to turn the chart monitor off & on or have a night pallette.

yes , it is the real game !!! i just changed soem things in the settings from the program is u change some things in the weathersetings u can set waves to 50M
if u now how u need to do it ;)
EDIT: As I said... It is no longer the ORIGINAL game. Be aware that you lose all your rights for support when editing the parametres. - groennegaard

I haven't expirienced any notable drop in frame rate, but I must admit that I haven't tested the frame rate. There might be a small fall but nothing that I noted by the naked eye.

What a messy situation… ;D
In the real world the captain of the cruiser would probably think:
“Oh I have a tug towing a ship in front of me. Maybe I should slow down the speed and wait until it’s safe to continue sailingâ€
But instead the Ship Simulator 2008 captain is thinking:
“Yiiiihaaaaa !!! Two boats in front of me…let have a crashing party time!!!â€
Yeah… those pictures make sense, that this game still misses a lot. ::)

The captain didn't even cut his engines after crashing...he actually pushed the Sherpa and the two tugs...powerful boat he has there :D

Hi, here are some pics, the first was the Hamburg mission, in the second I fell of the Vermaas and ended up swimming and watching how it sailed away. I waited for the rescue boat, but no luck... :'(

This is the first shot of the bridge controls,there will be two more phot's to follow,
it now has a new pod steering system and the Bridge of the OCEAN STAR looks great.
Great job by V STEP again and shipsim can only get better with the future addons to come.

If You bought the 2006 addon you can get the 2008 addon for Free ONLY.
But if you only have the 2008 ShipSim Game,sorry but you will have to wait untill V STEP has
finished making the 2008 AddOn.
Then every body can buy the addon from vstep,hope makes it a bit more clearer know its a bit
confussing.

Of course I exchanged whistles between Latitudes, also the tug.
My wife is never sure where she is when she is at home. ??? (She works for the local pilot station as a Traffic controller) At home I have VTS, VHF Radios 2x, Anemometer and digital weather system indicators, Plus the SS06 and SS08 and when I'm playing I started to talk like a pilot given orders to the vessel's command, tug boat and Mooringmans. And they reply to the pilot (Thats me ::) )
Crazy life but really fun, this how I expent a little of my moments when not working and or studing.
