If you zoom in on the high-res pic, it says "ORIENTAL BLUEBIRD" on the stern. That's the supply ship for the whaling ships -

You agree with me that it is the oriental bluebird

On closer look, it looks like it says "Oriental Blackbird"...so maybe not a case of slapping on a texture and pretending AS is a different ship

Port of registry seems to say "Austria"...which is erm..kind of land locked :-\

I don’t think you should take everything you see in screenshots at face value.

If you think that Amazon knows more than VSTEP, then you should believe Amazon.

Since when could a Country be a Port (of Registry)? Isn't it always a City? Like Rotterdam instead of Holland?
Even so, a seagoing vessel could be registred in a city of a landlocked country. Like Basel, (Switzerland) or Wien (Vienna(Austria))

Dover - Calais

There is a foto of Dover harbour, 6th photo on the shipim main page.
It does not seems like Dover, where are the harbor entrances?
It is an open port with direct access to the sea.
That will offer the same weather (waves, current) conditions at sea and in the port.
Are we talking about Dover? What about Calais?
What will Dover be in shipsim 2010?
Has this picture a clear image of the harbor?
Or am I wrong?

Hi,

This photo would be taken in real life from the southern breakwater. You cannopt see the Eastern Arm, which is off shot to the right.

We are not quite sure on the waves, but it seems we are going to get two- wave areas - the harbours are calm, the outside area rough...

You did, I think I remember that now...
Can you ask for a Calais screenshot for the next mag then...

Hi Gents,

Sorry if I'm a bit absent now and then, very (and I mean very) busy...
To wet your appetite, here is the first CALAIS screenshot.
The rest will be revealed in the next issue of ShipSim Mag and then online as well.

Hope you like what you see...

Seeing the Pride of Rotterdam in in the picture, I bring in my mind the possibility to be able to see the bow from the brige (in walkthrough mode). I hope we will have the ability in Extremes.

Note:

Some of those shots there are older shots and not necessarily showing 100% current material...  ::)
