I think you are confusing a semi submersable  oil rig for a factory whaler (photo)
                                                                                 Eric

acualy no sadsid

That is the Nishan Maru the Whaling factory ship i would love to see that ship on the bottm of the Ocean

Evil Whalers the whalers have anopther ship called the Oriental Bluebird its there gassoline ship!

The Nishan Maru is a Factory ship it process whale meat and prepares it for shipment back to japan

Whaling vessels have very large cranes, two at most and almost look like oilrigs from afar. This was told by me of what Whaling Ships look like.

Acualy no they dont the Nishan Maru 2 has a harpoon and when a whale is struck then they get a shot gun and shoot its head then once done they tie the tailfin to the side of the boat and wait for the nishan maru to attach a wire and drag the whale up the ramp!

What I really would like to see in the next Ship Simulator are not so much a lot of new environments, but more to do and more love for the details in the existing ones. I am a fan of ferries. So what I would like to do is take the Red Eagle from Southampton to Cowes, but not quite the way you can to it now. It would be great to have a more real environment and not have to play everything out in your head. For example, it would be nice to have the Red Funnel timetable and have the AI stick to it. Also it would be a great improvement, if you could actually moor the ferry at either of the terminals. Also opening the doors and having cars/passengers get on and off, would add greatly to realism. These relatively small changes would go a long way. In general more AI controlled ships would be desirable. Sailing into an Europoort devoid of activity isn't really that much fun - or realistic for that matter. If they do Dover - Calais, they should built all the ferry models and have simulated ferry and cross traffic. Depending on your machine they could maybe create a slider, that would control the amount of simulated traffic. From low for slow machines to realistic for high end computers. Just my two cents.

The harpoon vessels kill the whales, and then get it up the slipway on the mother ship....

From

https://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,15171.0/topicseen.html

•   Wide range of vessels to control, including hovercrafts, coast guard interceptors, mammoth tankers, tugs, cruise liners, and many others.

Hovercrafts

Could we be getting another...

We have Dover coming (probably), Maybe a SR.N4 Car Carrying giant...

Though slightly saddened by lack of mention of ferries...

Indeed, but that's what the ESRB rating board requires us to do if we want to avoid the video being banned. It's a fairly new guideline for all videos of games they have not yet rated. Even Spore had this in its trailer.

Anyway, we are grateful of all your feedback and wishes and while we cannot please everyone (not by a mile) and/or put everything in Extremes, and we realise that we are sometimes too busy to give you guys frequent updates, rest assured that everything is read and taken into account when we have design meetings. Bottom line is that we all wanna make this a game you'll love playing. Because, as I have told numerous journalists over the last couple of days at GamesCom: our community is and always will be very important to us.

Keep up the good work and keep on posting!

Regards,
Frank

Oh, yes. It's lovely... The first sign of life from Vstep in ages... and it's about the legalities of safety notices on a demo video. :o

That said, it is nice to see some sign of interaction on the forum and I do wish these chaps well with the development.

Now the trailer just says, "Coming Soon" :P

I still wonder what stage SSE is in (Pre-Alpha, Alpha, Beta, Gamma/Delta).

I definitely like the idea of someone like Frank posting here :2thumbs: Even more frequent updates like that would be euphoric, if possible.

Doesn't it depend if it has

Dover-Calais in the same environment
Or just 'plain' Dover

Ah, but you missed the subtlety. If someone Important responds by saying, it is a large environment, that would be a good sign...

I agree Tractorman, There can't be as much as The Solent. or Rotterdam
