"In early 2010, we will be launching a virtual version of the Rainbow Warrior III in cooperation with VSTEP, makers of the "Ship Simulator"  series of games for the PC. Drawn from the actual 3-D CAD drawings and specs to which the ship will be built, game players will be able to sail the virtual Rainbow Warrior through realistic sea and weather conditions and re-enact Greenpeace voyages to stop nuclear weapons testing, save the whales, and protect Antarctica -- on their own PC or in multi-player mode online. The game will also feature our ship the Esperanza and the jet boat the 'Billy G" will also be included in the game."

Yes because it probably wouldn't make much sense to make a new version if there wasn't. :)

Just been on the SS Pro website and not sure if its been said but I'm rather gutted that it says SS Pro has Dover AND Calais where as SS Extremes will just have Dover

Well it hasn't been confirmed that Calais isn't in Extremes, so it is a case of fingers crossed...

Also, anyone know what Greenpeace vessel Billy G looks like?

The Billy G is a RHIB, or RIB if you prefer.

not sure if this has been mentioned, but in the workflow slide there is a lifeboat in the frame that shows moving parts, will this mean that we can see them launched in SS extremes? Or is this a part of SS pro?

One wonders one thing... and this isn't in any way a criticism of Vsteps business model (quite the reverse as I think they give away too much stuff in the game).

It has been suggested repeatedly (not by Vstep themselves, though) that the main reason for not adding the same environments as in the PRO version is to avoid undermining the euro4000 of the professional edition- a VERY valid point!

However, it isn't just the additional environments that set apart the game from the pro version, as they are designed for totally different uses.

Not that I think Vstep is overly interested in my humble opinion, but I don't think the omission/inclusion of Calais is going to have the big shipping operators in a sweat. However, I think Vstep is missing a trick and should limit the number of environments and ships in the main release and charge extra for downloadable extra environments. That way they make more money, we get the environments and everybody (mostly...) is happy(ish)

I have to agree with you there and also I wouldn't mind paying even up to £10-15 for extra environments and ships

Someone AGREEING with me? :o Steady on ;D    It's just that I've been looking at the PRO website and the changes are WELL beyond just the environments. I'm afraid that my one (and only real) complaint about SS is the leaving port and being teleported to the middle of the sea and then exit... I know everyone has their own opinions on what is wrong, but this is one that has been mentioned by a lot of people.

Anyone want to team up and start a shipping company so we can buy the PRO version?

Right you are. I gladly would pay €uro 5 to €uro 10 for any additional vessel, and €uro 10 to €uro 15 for any additional environment

Right Aad,

As you're in the Netherlands- nip on over to Vsteps office with lots of BEER and a contract... Get Pjotr drunk and then get him to sign up to this  :o

If, and I say if anybody is entitled to do so, it would be our good VSTEP-contact and friend Terry (Russell), not me.
I hope he reads this, didn't hear much of him lately  :sleepy:

You think I'm joking though

Have you seen Dover on the PRO website? What it will look like when (if) it makes it to the game, is a different matter... It is instantly recognisable.

I thought that we were going to get more environments in the Shipyard.

Hopefully if we don't get Calais in 2010 Extreme, we can purchase it there...

I am still hoping for Calais and Dover to be on the same map though...

Same, Dover to Calais and back is what I could do all day!  :)

Obviously that is going to appeal mostly to British and French. But that said, I would be quite happy with the same sort of route anywhere in the world- Greek Islands have many similar options, for example or Sweden Denmark etc.

In truth, I think the best part of the current ss is Southampton- Cowes as it IS one complete mission...
