how did you get the vermas up there anyway?

Interesting...New type of launch?? ;D
Jack.

i've seen it done before, but it isn't the best way to launch a ship cause it makes one hell of a tidal wave!

It was parked by a woman captain, fairly obviously... :o

They did stop the traffic though...

Well, it is much better for the structure of the ship than the classical launch sagging with stern first!
-
From what I heard, the difference wether we launch a ship sideways or length way is made after seeing how much space we have. The wagenborg yard for instance didn't have the space for launching ships on full length, so they launch them all sideways.
Don't shoot me if it's not true. You have to agree that sideways launching gives great shows though :)
-
It is of course a question of space. Today most yards are using a sheltered, floodable construction dock instead of a launchway. But some traditional yards, located at more or less small rivers getting orders for larger ships than in the past. So their way of sideways launching is quite useful further. And yes, it is quite impressive!
BTW: @petey224: my parents house was situated right where the rudder of the "Vermaas" is here! I lived there from 1964 until 1968. Exactly there! With lots of ships in the front and a large harbour bassin in the back, which we have used for bathing in summer! Unbelievable today, eh!?! :2thumbs:
-
mission editor?
yup. Mission editor is what I used. ;D
-
They launched the Edmund Fitzgerald sideways like that. But Titanic was launched regulary.

Titanic is what should have been used here. She's stronger than any tug in the game I've come across. On MP, I've gotten a Vermaas unbeached using Titanic when a Sherpa failed by simply ramming the Vermaas in the bow ;D
-
So she is part Liner part Super Tug :D

He needs to change his tactics!!

It was a custom server. You know, where people NEVER even CONSIDER activating damage :-\
Without damage, there isn't a reason why I shouldn't have done that, is there?

Since we're all looking at videos of ship launches, here's a good one

Features a nice closeup of the airbag technique...

What kind of retards they should be to stand there, while normally understanding that there will be waves from the ship? ???

Brave fools
