If this is going to be a countdown topic, we need a countdown clock!   Sorry, but the only one that worked for a forum was a cruise ticker!   But it works anyway, so here we go!!.......

The M.V. Greenpeace is in Ship Sim 08, as Elbe, and we don't know if Elbe will be in SSE.

The Greenpeace was replaced in 2001 by the MV Esperanza. She has since been reconverted to her original form as the Elbe and is now a museum ship in Rotterdam.

I don't think so, they would (I think) had advertised if it were more harbours than we know at the moment. But I'm not sure at all so I guess it is atleast a tiny chance there will be more harbours...

There is a better chance of Olympic or Britannic making it in, I think, because at least the ways they handle are somewhat different from the way Titanic does ;)
Title: Re: The Countdown to Ship Simulator Extremes - 69 Days
Post by: MVEsperanza on June 15, 2010, 08:26:24
Well the Olympic looks exactly like the titanic the Britanic on the other hand looks alot different not her hull just her lifeboats and her poopdeck bridge thing and her paint job, but the thing is i want the game to come out before they start taking these requests and some of the stuff we request in addon packs in the future

Title: Re: The Countdown to Ship Simulator Extremes - 69 Days
Post by: RMS Gigantic on June 15, 2010, 22:28:04
Well the Olympic looks exactly like the titanic
Incorrect: Titanic had a weather-protected A-deck promenade, while Olympic did not; Olympic had a tennis court on the boat deck, while Titanic had a cowl vent in that location, preventing her from having a tennis court; two differences visible from the bridge are that Olympic had a curved front to her  wheelhouse, while Titanic had a flat one, visible in game; and that Olympic did not have Titanic's cowl vent #1 on her forecastle, but something else. From the exterior, one could see that Olympic had evenly spaced B-deck windows, while Titanic, again viewable in-game, had them spaced unevenly due to the fact that rooms are placed just inside of those walls. There are several other differences, but that should be enough for  that point.

I also understand that Titanic may have been a little bit faster due to a slightly larger central propeller, according to an original source. ;) Not sure how correct they are, though. :-\

No offence, but how many non-experts would actually no about the small differences though...?

He said they were identical, so I was stating how they weren't. Besides, up close, these differences would be a lot more noticeable, particularly the A-deck prominade weather protection and the curved bridge front.

As for all of those Greenpeace ships, can we just not, it's bad enough that VStep are humouring them as much as they already are, the French had the right idea.

well since i work with the police services here,i would say scrap the greenpeace donations.has this would intervene with my secruity checks.i have to declare that i donated to them and probably lose the job!!!, but not likely i would want to donate to a organisnations that sabotages.?

and has i only just started simships, do you really think i going to search 500 pages of 15 yrs olds boys wishlists.and prehaps re-read the top post may help.and maybe stop trying to flame topics with repeated troll quotes from above.

i do it for you.

That's the question what really bothers me!!  >:( ;D

It will be the best day of my life when the SSE comes out. I just hope that there will no be delays anymore, because 27 August, just give me 2 weeks of summer freedom to taste that game of my dreams.

That isn't going to be in the first release.
So I wouldn't spread the word to quickly.

Frank Dolmans said it will be a downloadable content later on. So it could be a phew weeks/months.
Title: Annoying timing!
Post by: Matthew Brown on June 24, 2010, 12:53:29
Yeah it's slightly annoying! 27th, then order it from Vstep, takes a week to get here at the most, and that gives me only 13 days to play  :o    If you don't hear from me, I will have locked my self in my bedroom and glued to my Computer Screen for 312 hours straight without a break!

Only Joking  :2thumbs:         32 ships to try in 13 days... bring it on! lol

I imagine it will be like the Elbe/Furie where you buy it, then log into your account on www.shipsim.com to download it whenever you need it again?

I assume it will be like that at least, thats how the digital downloads of 2008 are delivered at least.

Like this:
Downloads overview
â– Ship Simulator 2008
â– Ship Simulator 2008 New Horizons
â– Seagoing motortugboat "Elbe"
Clicking the link will start the download, easy as that.

but by doing that wouldnt he be able to send it to other people?

Sure you CAN, youre just not ALLOWED to. Like going 100mph down the wrong lane of the freeway.
You can use your DVD to install it on multiple PC's too, and I imagine most people do (desktop, laptop, work aso), in reality I think they dont overly care about that as long as you dont give your key away to someone else.

Yes, Im going to get the download too, not up for waiting a week for the box to it make its way up to frozen litltle Norway.

You can do that with CDs though

And no, that was not what I was planning, my comp is 2.4 GHz - if it doesn't work, I wouldn't want to fork out another set of cash for another copy...

Just received an update on my order from Coolshop (UK) which says that SSE is being packed now for postal delivery on the 27th so it's definitely happening!

Hold on second, if the game doesn't work, your going to get another copy?! Would in not be theother way around and get a new computer?

 ???

EDIT: Thats brillian Sonarman! So it should be with you on the 27th :D
But I must say that is rather odd, I thought VSTEP said you could only get the bonus pre order vessel when ordering through them? But yet you can here and for a much cheaper price ???
http://www.coolshop.co.uk/catalog/product/3024322-ship-simulator-extremes--pre-purchase--for-download

EDIT Nº2: And game say that too ??
http://game.gamesplanet.com/buy-download-pc-games/Ship-Simulator-Extremes-2005-39.html

And also if you look people... on the game website...

So that means that we WILL be playing by midnight?!! Well not me as I have a boxed version.

And I know what your probably going to say, about the big companies always getting it wrong, but it does seem rather odd.

Hi guys,

If SSE is anything like SS08 was, you will have access to the Ship Simulator 08 download file, and will be able to download it as and when you need it. You will also have a license key to use with that download. This means that if I was to get a new computer, I can redownload SS08 Setup file, install it on my computer and use the same license key to validate that copy.

It may have changed for SSE however :)

What do you make of that?

Hi Matthew,

Staff are not the only ones who can be hidden. You can change this in your forum profile, so it might not have been staff ;)

Would you like me to ask this question to the team? There is probably no point as there is only just over a day until you will find out anyway :)

Me neither. But also the guys and gals who ordered the downloadable version will not be able to play by midnight
Why not  ???

First they have to download about 4.2 GByte, that will take at least an hour of two.
Then they have to install the game. That will be about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the speed of their machines and the number of re-starts during and after the installation .
And last but not least: Let's hope the game simulation will run at the first mouseclick.  ;D
That all to all added means not sooner than 2 hours and 30 minutes after they recieved the download link and the activation code

30 45 mins to install? I think not :)

I have a game of about that size and it only takes about 10 minutes. My machine isn't exactly fast either :)

Ahoy Captain Spencer,
How much time did the installation of SS 08 take on your system

Well the original game took about 4 minutes :)

It took almost 3 minutes on my machine just to initialisize the setup-file
Meaning the time after closing the CD-Tray and starting of the setup sequence

Well I suppose if you have a CD version it might be slower I guess, as I have the download version. So that might explain the differences, since the read-write time of a HDD is much quicker than a CD :)

And having pre-Ordered the boxed version of SSEX I'll have to install it via my DVD-Drive. And while SSEX is about seven times the size of SS08................................... :sleepy:

I thought VSTEP said you could only get the bonus pre order vessel when ordering through them?

Ship Simulator Extremes official pre-orders will start on monday, August 9th, 2010 through www.shipsim.com and other selected digital download channels.

GamersGate is another of said "selected digital download channels" for example.
