You're probably thinking of Naval Architect? A course like this one might be something to consider:
http://www.amc.edu.au/maritime.engineering/courses?course=naval.arch.bach (http://www.amc.edu.au/maritime.engineering/courses?course=naval.arch.bach)
Nice place to learn the trade, Bass Strait...

From the time I was a kid, I used to say I wanted to be a subway(metro) train driver (operator). Twenty five years ago I left the job I had and went after my goal. And I've enjoyed going to work every single day since. My point (especially to the younger folks) is, if you have a dream job, by all means go for it. The feeling of satisfaction, accomplishment and well being is beyond description.
-
I always wanted to become a captain... but first I will qualify myself as a truck driver and than I have two options left. 1) captain (4 years of studying), or 2) a firefighter (2 years of studying).
I still don't know which of those two lasts job I would like to choose.

I hope to join the Merchant Navy and work with P&O...obviously you can't do that straight away, I hear you have to work with other ships first.

Where did you hear that Nathan? For your experience it would be better to sail on different kind of ships, but when you are sure you want to work on a P&O ferry i don't see any problems to apply for a function at P&O right after finishing the nautical college. Ofcours if you have the right qualification ;)
-
It is no surprise the winning vote is captain of cruise ship or ANY type of ships-this is ship simulator.
-
If I'll be a captain of cruise ship - I'll show how does the bottom of the sea looks like to all of the passengers.
Voted for cargo ship captain
You could tour the Titanic! ;D (We should get back on topic, well, this is small talk, idk)

Capt of POH said I wouldn't jump straight into ferrying, but i'd have to train on other types of ships around the world first :-\

But who knows? It could change by the time you are old enough. Be hopeful! :)

I guess the Captain has a point. Sail world wide for a while, see something of the world, have some fun while you're young and gain some life experience by seeing other cultures etc etc. Once you have the 'been there, done that' feeling and ready to settle down with your social life you can always join P&O with their 2 weeks on/2 weeks off or 3 weeks on/3 weeks off schedule. You'll be crossing the pond from NL to the UK and vica versa every night. But this is just my opinion :)

I like to be a heavy equipment operator/Dump truck driver. ;D
Would have never guessed by your username. ::)
You on HEF or DHS?

Maybe you could use a little less hastey language and use smiles such as ;D when you are making a joke rather then a uneeded statement?

I would love to fly helicopters.

I would love to fly helicopters.
I had enough of flying in helicopters when I was younger. Our battalion was just up the road from the army school of aviation, so when the trainee Blackhawk pilots were learning tactical flying, they flew us around. In steep, narrow valleys. Right after lunch.
Hell is watching tussocks of grass and various bits of vegetation fly past your window in a blur while everyone around you is hurling, except for the bloke opposite, who is holding a sick bag out to you with an evil grin on his face . They hug every contour, so you experience lots of G's both negative and positive, and wonder how they stick so close to the ground at such speeds without smearing the whole show across the landscape...
You're right, it's probably a much better ride up front ;D

LOL yes it can suck sometimes. Its funny to watch those guys who aren't enjoying the flight as much as I am. The pilots always do it on purpose. Good times.

And this topic is really old...
:P

Do you always reply first to everything old that pops up in your "Unread posts since last visit" ?
I think yes, because everytime at morning when I see an old topic in "Unread posts since last visit", you're the first (& the fast!) one to welcome & give instructions to the topic raiser.
-
Dream job (note this is NOT an old topic NOW, since you lot opened it up, and not me )
My dream job is "Chief Executive of Vstep" and my first command to my staff would be- add
Dover - Calais (in one environment)
I'd then resign, and continue with my current life of being a paragon of perfection
-
You should hire TFM as chief executive's sidekick!
-
TFM as assistant C.E. and WM as director of Communications...
-

I didn't even look at the date of the last post on this one, because he started a new page, and i didn't really think it was old....
And whats wrong with telling people they've done something wrong? Then they know not to do it again...
-
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM is just raising like every old topic... anyways Id like to be a part time captain and a Computer Systems Analyst
-
And whats wrong with telling people they've done something wrong? Then they know not to do it again...
Jonah, there's nothing wrong with telling people that they've done something wrong... Besides, it's mostly you, who is telling that everytime & day after day.
It's more likely that they'll make you a Mod or a Mod's assistant in the nearest future!
-
Thanks ;) Wouldn't that just be great? ;D
-
Thanks ;) Wouldn't that just be great? ;D
Sorry, but that will be the horrible times on forum then!
-
Lol...i think... :-\
I'm not a horrible person WM...so why would i make it a horrible time..?
-
Thanks ;) Wouldn't that just be great? ;D
[diplomaticmode]Yes... Terrific[/diplomaticmode]
Sorry, but that will be the horrible times on forum then!
I think you'd make a good Goderator, WM. (no sarcasm intended)
I'm not a horrible person WM...so why would i make it a horrible time..?
Whether you are a horrible person or not has little bearing on a persons abilities. I'm no professor of nuclear physics, but that doesn't make me a horrible person (other things might, but not that). Equally, someone doesn't become a professor by being nice. Equally, reaching the ranks of Goderator isn't achieved by being nice. You have to be nasty, ruthless, vengeful, officious, rude, offensive... Oh, sorry- that was just me, was it?
-
Well no, its true, but i wouldn't be horrible to you guys...i'd be just like any other moderator....
-

I just remembered the times when you was a Mod & I couldn't agree more with you on that! ;D
-
Getting back on topic, if I'm HONEST.. I would like to be an executioner.
Anyone want to help? Good... Just sit here on this electrically heated chair. Put your head through this rope support...
Sharp axe anyone?
-
Wow.... :o :-\
Im gonna run away now... :-\

You can run... But you can not hide...

Lol!

If that happens, I'll be the most evil Goderator that they'll regret about what they did!
-
As long as you don't upset an admin- mad fred- or you'll be sorry.
Speaking of which, what has happened to good old fred? Has he left the planet for a while?
-
If that happens, I'll be the most evil Goderator that they'll regret about what they did!
Well we would have 24 hour coverage on all boards...
-
WM isn't a real person, TFM... 'He's a computer bot designed to fool servers into believeing the forum is busier and higher ranked than it really is'
-

Sorry, My Lord...
I want to know what is the duiffernce between:
*celeberty
*movie star
*music star (ex. rock, country, etc.)
The last two are both forms of 'Celebrity'
From the list Captain of a Cruise Ship...
-
Celeberty someone everyone knows (like me  ::) )
Movie star someone that stars in movies if your like Megan Fox then your also in the celebrity category if your like Vin Diesel than your not
Music star someone that stars in music Then read above
-
At the risk of upseeting the new moderator, Capt Matt, has anyone noticed that if you watch these awful celebrity programmes, you have to ask someone who the celebrity is?
I hate to be pedantic (me???) but a celebrity- or celebrated person, is supposed to be famous. Most of these celebrities are not famous and therefore not actually celebrities at all.
I still want to be an executioner. I shall start with celebrities.

A bit extreme...
just lock them in a room with padded walls...
Oh wait, they tried that...

Hmmm... execution or being stuck in a film studio that looks like a deep jungle- with antordec?
Carry on, executioner!
