You're probably thinking of Naval Architect?  A course like this one might be something to consider:

http://www.amc.edu.au/maritime.engineering/courses?course=naval.arch.bach (http://www.amc.edu.au/maritime.engineering/courses?course=naval.arch.bach)

Nice place to learn the trade, Bass Strait...

I want to go to the Nautical College here in Fleetwood, study for a few years, get my first certificate, then by 26, I should have my Masters certificate (thats what they told me at the College if I work hard!), I'm looking at Rig supply/tugs etc.

From the time I was a kid, I used to say I wanted to be a subway(metro) train driver (operator). Twenty five years ago I left the job I had and went after my goal. And I've enjoyed going to work every single day since. My point (especially to the younger folks) is, if you have a dream job, by all means go for it. The feeling of satisfaction, accomplishment and well being is beyond description.

I always wanted to become a captain... but first I will qualify myself as a truck driver and than I have two options left. 1) captain (4 years of studying), or 2) a firefighter (2 years of studying).
I still don't know which of those two lasts job I would like to choose.

Where did you hear that Nathan? For your experience it would be better to sail on different kind of ships, but when you are sure you want to work on a P&O ferry i don't see any problems to apply for a function at P&O right after finishing the nautical college. Ofcours if you have the right qualification  ;)

I guess the Captain has a point. Sail world wide for a while, see something of the world, have some fun while you're young and gain some life experience by seeing other cultures etc etc. Once you have the 'been there, done that' feeling and ready to settle down with your social life you can always join P&O with their 2 weeks on/2 weeks off or 3 weeks on/3 weeks off schedule. You'll be crossing the pond from NL to the UK and vica versa every night. But this is just my opinion  :)

I had enough of flying in helicopters when I was younger.  Our battalion was just up the road from the army school of aviation, so when the trainee Blackhawk pilots were learning tactical flying, they flew us around.  In steep, narrow valleys.  Right after lunch.

Hell is watching tussocks of grass and various bits of vegetation fly past your window in a blur while everyone around you is hurling, except for the bloke opposite, who is holding a sick bag out to you with an evil grin on his face .  They hug every contour, so you experience lots of G's both negative and positive, and wonder how they stick so close to the ground at such speeds without smearing the whole show across the landscape...

You're right, it's probably a much better ride up front  ;D

LOL yes it can suck sometimes.  Its funny to watch those guys who aren't enjoying the flight as much as I am.  The pilots always do it on purpose.  Good times.

Thanks ;) Wouldn't that just be great?  ;D
[diplomaticmode]Yes... Terrific[/diplomaticmode]

Sorry, but that will be the horrible times on forum then!
I think you'd make a good Goderator, WM. (no sarcasm intended)

Whether you are a horrible person or not has little bearing on a persons abilities. I'm no professor of nuclear physics, but that doesn't make me a horrible person (other things might, but not that). Equally, someone doesn't become a professor by being nice. Equally, reaching the ranks of Goderator isn't achieved by being nice. You have to be nasty, ruthless, vengeful, officious, rude, offensive... Oh, sorry- that was just me, was it?

Anyone want to help? Good... Just sit here on this electrically heated chair. Put your head through this rope support...

If that happens, I'll be the most evil Goderator that they'll regret about what they did!

At the risk of upseeting the new moderator, Capt Matt, has anyone noticed that if you watch these awful celebrity programmes, you have to ask someone who the celebrity is?

I hate to be pedantic (me???) but a celebrity- or celebrated person, is supposed to be famous. Most of these celebrities are not famous and therefore not actually celebrities at all.

I still want to be an executioner. I shall start with celebrities.
