Well, It CAN work on a laptop. I have a laptop, but it is specialized in gaming. If you show us which laptop you are planning on getting, we can tell you if if will probably work or not. Or you can find the system requirements for Ship Simulator Extremes, here - http://www.shipsim.com/products/shipsimulatorextremes and see if your laptop would meet them.

Hi William,

Your laptop must be able to run the game before it will work, obviously. Could you please provide us with your DXDIAG please? This way I can check if your laptop is capable of running the game or not.

Your dxdiag can be obtained by following these instructions:

Click Start > Run. type in dxdiag and press Enter.  You may see a popup asking about WHQL drivers, click Yes/Ok to proceed.

In the window that appears, click the button that says Save All Information, when the Save Dialog box appears, save the file to your desktop.  To upload the file here, click Additional Options underneath the reply area and choose Browse near Attach.  Browse to your desktop, click the file and click Open.

*  Windows Vista and 7 users need to press the Windows Key + R to access the Run prompt.

You can then post your reply with the file attached.

Regards,
Adam

Hi William,

I'm afriad it's bad news. Your laptop doesn't meet the minimum system requirements needed for Ship Simulator Extremes. So, that means that you won't be able to play it.

Your processor is much too slow to play the game, you don't have enough memory and the graphics adapter will never be able to handle the graphics SSE has.

Sorry, but it's a no go :-\

Adam

William, there would be many laptops where the game would work perfect. But you add "at suitable price". For some so is 100€ a suitable price and for some it is 1000 € and for some other's 10 000 €, it all of cource depend on how much money you have and are willing to offer on this. And prices on computers seems to differ a lot between different countries. So, what is suitable price for you?

If I were you, so should I wait to buy the new version of Ship Simulator. I had SS 2008, and bought this new version of the game. Some days ago, I tested SS 2006, and I must say that if I had know in what condition this new game is in now so would I have bought SS 2006 now and waited maybe a year to buy Ship Simulator Extreme(cause this 4-5 year old game is a much better simulator game than what this new game is, in my personal opinion).

Willian,
What I did is I got the SS08, wend to the shop and make a test on the wished laptop. Its had worked perfectly then I assume to buy it.
And now is running both SS08 and SSE

Tavares Junior, that is a very good sugestion. But the problem is that with SSE, if you buy the box version of this game so do you need the patches, at least the first patch. I suppose that one is neccesary cause that one I got one day before I got the game when I preordered it, the patch came the release day and I got the game in the post the day after(the posts here in Norway missed to open the package as they often do here and spesificly package's from Netherlands). So it can be a problem to download that in a shop. But it is deffently a good advice.

Or just write down what the game needs to run and ask in the shop which laptop can run it, or compare by your self.

msi builds entry level(cheapisch) gaminglaptops. my 2 year old GT627 runs SSE no problem. I would look there first.
