Title: Container Crunching
Post by: llamalord on August 28, 2008, 22:58:38
In case you ever wanted to know how well Ship Simulator simulates Crunching a hull of a container ship, I just found this picture on the internet. Looks pretty nasty. :-\

You never know, an Arie Visser can sink a VLCC in the game so why not a guy in a kayak?  ;D

True, there could be some crazy perspective going on there and the guy could be bigger than the ship. But seriously how do you think that happened?

The ship in the pictures is the "Cosco Busan" which hit the bay bridge in Oakland/San Francisco in November of 2007 spilling oil into the bay. You can recreate the Busan's path in ShipSim San Francisco environment.

Yes, M’Lord, it was the fuel oil that spilled. There was a posting on this forum when the accident happened, pointing out that not only tankers pose an environmental hazard, but also the fuel on board any large merchant ship.

Nasty, sorry to be off topic but, when you look at the size of the guy in his Kayak, and the size of the container ship, you really appreciate the size of vessels like that :D ;D

about that i think that anything with fuel poses as a environmental hazard but nobody going to make them stop working if they do the world will stop spinning
